Treyarch has outlined its approach to tackling the persistent cheating issue in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s Ranked Play mode. The battle against cheaters in online games is a constant struggle, and Black Ops 6 is no exception, with players voicing concerns about the problem even in its early stages.

The introduction of Ranked Play to Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 brought the long-awaited competitive mode to the game. However, its launch hasn’t been without challenges. Cheating has quickly become a significant issue, with professional players and content creators highlighting the impact it has on the game. High-level matches are particularly affected, as cheaters are frequently matched against top-tier players.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Treyarch announced steps it is taking to address this issue. The studio plans to implement “aggressive targeting of suspicious accounts” and speed up “Replay Investigations” to assess potentially dishonest players more efficiently.

Importance: Cheating has become a prevalent issue in many multiplayer games, especially Call of Duty, where even beta versions of the game are compromised by cheaters.

While details on the solutions remain somewhat vague, it’s clear that additional resources will be allocated to monitor and act on flagged accounts. Many cheaters use blatant methods like wallhacks and aimlocks, making their actions easier to identify and address during reviews.

Before the game’s release, Activision stated its intention to ban cheaters within an hour of their first offense. However, the Ranked Play system requires players to win 50 matches before gaining access, which was meant to deter cheaters. Despite this, some are still slipping through, possibly by activating their cheats only after meeting the prerequisites.

At present, the promised swift bans don’t appear to be consistently enforced. Nevertheless, Treyarch’s recent announcement is a promising start, signaling the studio’s commitment to resolving the issue.

Beyond the cheating concerns, there’s a lot for Black Ops 6 fans to look forward to. Season 1 is in full swing, bringing a steady stream of new content to the game. On December 5, fans can anticipate the release of Citadelle Des Morts, a brand-new Zombies map. Treyarch has been praised for its efforts to keep the live-service game engaging, and players are hopeful this momentum will continue.
