Fortnite OG Ranked Zero Build Servers will Shut Down On March 4

Epic Games has revealed plans to discontinue Fortnite OG Ranked Zero Build servers, with the shutdown process set to begin on March 4. This decision comes shortly after the launch of Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2 on February 21, which introduced fresh locations and an updated loot system to the game’s primary battle royale mode.

While the main game continues to flourish, it appears that some of Fortnite’s niche game modes are struggling to maintain their player base.

In a recent Twitter announcement, Epic Games explained that the Fortnite OG Ranked Zero Build servers will be taken offline starting March 4, citing “matchmaking health” as the primary reason.

We’re disabling Ranked OG Zero Build for all server regions due to matchmaking health. The roll out will begin starting March 4.

For Brazil, Oceania, Middle East, and Asia server regions, Ranked OG Zero Build will be disabled on March 4.

Fortnite OG Ranked Zero Build Ending Soon

Servers in the EU and NAC regions will remain active until the conclusion of Fortnite OG Season 2 on March 25. Players from other regions can switch their settings to access the servers without penalties, enabling them to continue their progress until the season ends. Despite this option, the news has left some fans disappointed, as they’ve grown fond of the mode.

The Fortnite OG Season 2, which launched on January 31, has been a major success, resonating strongly with both veteran and new players. For long-time fans, the mode offers a nostalgic trip down memory lane, allowing them to wield iconic weapons like the Zapotron once more.

Newer players, on the other hand, get a chance to experience the game’s earlier days, exploring classic maps and gameplay elements for the first time.

Ranked Zero Build Was A Way Smaller Subset Of Fortnite OG

The announcement sparked discussions within the Fortnite community, with many speculating about the future of Fortnite OG. The term “matchmaking health” led some to believe that the mode failed to attract a sufficient number of players.

While Fortnite OG initially saw massive success, drawing over a million concurrent players shortly after its release, the Ranked Zero Build variant—a smaller subset of the mode—struggled to gain similar traction.

Fortnite OG Has Attracted A Lot Of Older Fans Of The Game

Despite the shutdown, many players have expressed appreciation for Epic Games’ efforts to revive the classic experience. The Fortnite OG Item Shop, for instance, allowed fans to purchase rare items like the Renegade Raider for the first time in years, adding to the mode’s appeal.

Additionally, the community has embraced the shorter seasons, which often feature battle passes with remixed skins and other rewards. While the Ranked Zero Build mode may be ending, fans remain optimistic about the future of Fortnite OG, believing it has the potential to continue evolving and captivating players in new ways.
