New classification listings reveal Ubisoft’s roguelike Prince of Persia spin-off is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch – a major expansion from its originally announced PC-only Early Access release.

    Australian Classification Confirms Console Versions

As first reported by @gematsu, The Australian Classification Board has quietly updated its database with listings for The Rogue Prince of Persia across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch. Rated M for Violence, this official classification (file number T25/07748) appeared alongside the previously announced PC version, strongly suggesting a simultaneous multi-platform launch when the game leaves Early Access this August.

This discovery follows months of Steam Early Access development where Evil Empire (known for Dead Cells DLC) has been refining the game’s rogue-lite mechanics. The Australian ratings board has become a reliable source for spotting unannounced releases, having previously revealed Elden Ring’s DLC and Metroid Dread’s revival months before official announcements.

What This Means for Prince of Persia Fans

The console classification indicates Ubisoft now views The Rogue Prince of Persia as a major franchise entry rather than just a PC experiment. This aligns with renewed interest in the series following The Lost Crown’s critical success and ongoing work on the troubled Sands of Time Remake.

Players in Early Access have praised recent updates that dramatically improved the Persian-inspired parkour and combat systems. The game offers a distinct take on movement compared to The Lost Crown, showcasing the franchise’s versatility across different genres and playstyles.

When Can We Expect Official News?

With the classification now public and Gematsu corroborating the discovery, industry observers speculate about potential announcements at Summer Game Fest or Ubisoft Forward. The publisher has yet to comment on console release dates, but the Australian rating suggests plans are firmly in place.

This leak follows Ubisoft’s pattern of testing smaller projects on PC before expanding to consoles, as seen with Valiant Hearts: Coming Home. The rogue-lite structure makes The Rogue Prince of Persia particularly well-suited for multiplatform release, offering bite-sized runs perfect for both home consoles and handheld Switch play.

The Rogue Prince of Persia represents an exciting new direction for the franchise, blending procedurally-generated challenges with the acrobatic combat the series pioneered. This unexpected console classification confirms Ubisoft’s commitment to bringing the Prince back in multiple forms across all major platforms.
