An expansion for Black Myth: Wukong is reportedly set for release in early 2025, according to China-based journalist and games industry consultant Daniel Camilo.

Game Science, the developer behind the title, is planning to launch the DLC around the time of the Chinese New Year, which begins on January 29, 2025.

Importance: Black Myth: Wukong has emerged as one of the standout titles of the year and is considered a strong contender for the prestigious Game of the Year award. With its innovative gameplay, stunning visuals, and captivating narrative, the excitement for additional content and future updates is sky-high.

Camilo claimed he received this information from “very reliable first-hand sources,” indicating that the DLC could arrive “right at the end of January, or very soon after.” However, he cautioned that plans could change, noting that internal roadmaps and release dates in the gaming industry are often subject to adjustment.

While Black Myth: Wukong’s DLC has not been officially confirmed, Game Science investor Hero Games recently informed Bloomberg that an expansion is indeed in development.

Additionally, Camilo’s sources suggested that the game has already sold 20 million copies since its release for PS5 and PC on August 20. With a development budget of approximately $70 million, Black Myth: Wukong has reportedly generated over $800 million in revenue so far.

Daniel Ahmad, director of research and insights at Niko Partners, stated that this achievement makes Black Myth: Wukong one of the fastest-selling games of all time, trailing behind titles such as Grand Theft Auto V and Modern Warfare 2.
