CD Projekt RED’s next entry in the Cyberpunk universe is beginning to take shape behind the scenes, with fresh industry analysis shedding light on how ambitious new features could reshape the studio’s development plans.

As the team balances lessons learned from Cyberpunk 2077’s troubled launch with its broader roadmap, expectations around scope, scale, and timing are once again becoming major talking point among fans and analysts alike.

A new analyst projection suggests CD Projekt RED’s next Cyberpunk entry, codenamed Project Orion, is shaping up to be a far more ambitious follow-up than its predecessor, with Cyberpunk 2077 sequel multiplayer features playing a key role in the game’s extended development outlook and long-term planning.

Importance: This news is significant as Cyberpunk 2077 sequel multiplayer points to CD Projekt RED shifting toward long-term engagement, higher budgets, and longer development cycles, reflecting broader AAA industry trends.

CD Projekt RED is reportedly expanding development budgets and timelines to accommodate Cyberpunk 2077 sequel multiplayer features.

    Extended-Release Timeline Expected

According to Polish analyst Mateusz Chrzanowski of Noble Securities, the decision to build Cyberpunk 2077 sequel multiplayer systems into Project Orion has significantly lengthened production, driving both a higher budget and a later release expectation.

Chrzanowski estimates total development costs at around PLN 1.5 billion and points to an extended timeline driven by the technical demands of online infrastructure, matchmaking, and networking.

CD Projekt RED Yet to Confirm Features

This assessment aligns with previously spotted job listings seeking network engineers for multiplayer-focused roles, while CD Projekt RED has yet to officially announce these features.

The sequel is also expected to revisit Night City alongside an additional new location, all while the studio prioritizes other major releases in its pipeline, including The Witcher 4.
