2024 has been a good year for PlayStation so far, with the PS5 hosting some standout titles like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Stellar Blade, and Helldivers 2. As the year progresses, there’s much more on the horizon for PlayStation fans. Although nothing is officially confirmed, speculation is rife about a possible PlayStation Showcase in September 2024.

Lunatic Ignus, a well-regarded insider, initially revealed back in May that a PlayStation Showcase was scheduled for September. Now, he took to X (formerly Twitter) and stated that we should hear more about the upcoming PlayStation event from reliable leakers by the end of August.

Importance: A PlayStation showcase in September could be huge for the platform and serve as a response to the successful recent Xbox showcase, also giving us insights into several highly anticipated projects in development along with new titles.

An insider known as DetectiveSeeds also recently shared on social media that the PlayStation Showcase is expected to take place on September 12th, based on information from two separate sources within PlayStation Studios.

This timing would align with the release of God of War Ragnarok for PC and the Tokyo Game Show, both significant events for Sony.

DetectiveSeeds isn’t a typical leaker but has connections within the industry, providing behind-the-scenes feedback, particularly on accessibility features. Following these revelations, Lunatic Ignus cautioned fans to be skeptical of leaks but suggested that reliable insiders might soon hear more about PlayStation’s plans.

If these rumors hold true, Sony’s track record suggests a September showcase wouldn’t be out of the ordinary. In past years, PlayStation has held significant events in September, including a major showcase in 2021 and State of Play presentations in 2022 and 2023. Earlier this year, trusted insider Tom Henderson also hinted at a PlayStation Showcase happening towards the end of 2024.

The upcoming PlayStation showcase is also anticipated to reveal the PS5 Pro, which has been a hot topic for some time. Despite the lack of official information, September might be when we finally get some details.

So September could be a pretty big month for PlayStation, however we still have to get through August, which itself is shaping up to be a significant month for gaming. The much-anticipated release of Black Myth Wukong is just around the corner. Additionally, fans can look forward to the launch of Star Wars Outlaws, as well as the arrival of Madden 25.

While Black Myth Wukong and Star Wars Outlaws headline August, the latter part of 2024 is set to bring even more major releases, some of which are exclusive to the PS5. The potential PlayStation Showcase in September could offer a glimpse into these upcoming titles.

While nothing has been officially announced yet, there are several potential titles Sony could highlight at the rumored showcase. These include PS5 exclusives like the highly anticipated Silent Hill 2 and the remake of Until Dawn. Additionally, other PS5 exclusives, such as Wolverine, are in development, along with several exciting third-party games.
