A PlayStation showcase has been rumored for this month for quite some time, and many fans have been eagerly anticipating it, especially after last year’s showcase failed to impress and left many disappointed.

However, with May nearly over and no official announcement, a PlayStation showcase seems unlikely this month. Adding to the disappointment, reliable leaker Shpeshal_Nick has suggested that if there is a PlayStation event soon, it will likely be a State of Play rather than a full-fledged showcase.

Why it matters: Both a PlayStation Showcase and a State of Play are highly anticipated by PlayStation fans, but a Showcase is generally preferred as it offers a longer presentation with more exciting reveals than a State of Play.

So, this news is pretty disappointing for fans who have been waiting for a PlayStation Showcase all this time. Nevertheless, we will still be highly anticipating the State of Play if it indeed comes down to it, but right now, we cannot say anything for sure.

Since nothing is set in stone, the possibility of a PlayStation Showcase isn’t entirely off the table either. Last year’s PlayStation Showcase was held on May 24, which means we might not be far away from one.

But, we won’t be ungrateful if it turns out to be a State of Play, as something is better than nothing. Right now, we are really looking forward to learning more about PlayStation’s upcoming projects, so a State of Play would do.

There are various upcoming titles that we are eagerly waiting to know more about, and a Showcase or State of Play would be the perfect opportunity for it. We hope for an event that is not reminiscent of last year’s Showcase and actually surpasses our expectations.

Gaming fans do have one thing to look forward to that is not in speculation, which is the Xbox Games Showcase shortly followed by a Call of Duty direct. We will learn a lot about what Xbox has been cooking at the Xbox Games Showcase, followed by the Call of Duty direct, which would reveal a lot about the recently announced Black Ops 6, including gameplay.

So, next month could be a great month for us gamers as we might be getting both a PlayStation event and an Xbox event along with a Call of Duty direct. We are hoping for a great next month and are looking forward to all the revelations in the events.
