Usual June will launch for PC on October 28, 2026, developer and publisher Finji has confirmed, finally giving its supernatural third-person action game a firm release date.
The announcement arrives alongside a fresh look at the game and follows the release of a new playable demo on Steam this week. Usual June had previously been listed only for a broader 2026 release after its original launch plans shifted beyond the earlier 2025 target.
Set in the fictional town of Fen Harbor, Usual June follows college student June as what was supposed to be an ordinary summer break turns into an investigation involving disappearing ghosts, hostile supernatural creatures and a much larger threat to reality itself.
June is not dealing with the situation alone. The story revolves around her group of friends, including both the living and the dead, as they investigate the town’s hidden history and try to understand why supernatural events are escalating around them.
Finji describes Usual June as a third-person action-adventure game built around fast, flexible combat. June can fight monsters using supernatural weapons and abilities, with previously shown gameplay including an oversized hammer alongside other powers designed to give encounters a more energetic feel than a traditional horror game.
Combat is only one part of the structure. Investigation and character interaction also play a significant role, with June able to communicate with spirits and explore their memories as she pieces together the mystery surrounding Fen Harbor.
Those memories are particularly important because the ghosts June encounters do not have unlimited time. Learning what happened to them and how their stories connect to the wider disaster forms part of the game’s central mystery.
Finji’s Steam description frames the story as an unusual mix of supernatural horror, comedy and coming-of-age drama. June is simultaneously dealing with enormous monsters, a multidimensional crisis and the comparatively ordinary pressures of friendships, family expectations and figuring out what comes after graduation.
The developer has also been spending recent months showing more of Fen Harbor itself. Finji has described the setting as a fictional Midwestern town, with the environment designed to feel recognizable and grounded even as increasingly strange locations and supernatural events begin appearing around it.
Usual June was first announced at The Game Awards in December 2023. At the time, Finji introduced the project as a story-rich action game centered on June and her friends uncovering a conspiracy spanning the history of their town.
The game is being developed and published internally by Finji, the company known for publishing titles including Tunic, Chicory: A Colorful Tale and Night in the Woods. Unlike several of those projects, however, Usual June is a Finji-developed production rather than a game created by an external studio and published under the label.
For players interested in trying it before release, a new Usual June demo is currently available on Steam. The latest demo includes June, Sunny, Max and the ghost Frankie becoming trapped inside a mausoleum, giving players a sample of the game’s conversations, exploration and combat.
The Steam version currently lists support for both Windows and macOS, while Finji has not announced console versions.
With the October 28 date now confirmed, Usual June will arrive just days before Halloween, an appropriate window for a game built around ghosts, monsters and a supernatural mystery. The PC launch now gives Finji roughly two months to build on the newly released demo before the full game arrives.
