Epic Games appears to be preparing a new social feature called Epic Parties that would allow players to maintain parties and voice chat across Fortnite, the Epic Games Launcher and the Epic Games mobile app. Dataminer FireMonkey surfaced in-client material describing cross-device voice transfers, background mobile chat and automatic Fortnite lobby joining when friends accept an invitation. Epic Games has not publicly announced the feature, so its release timing and final functionality remain unconfirmed.

The leaked material describes Epic Parties as a way to keep a group connected even when individual members move between devices or are not actively playing Fortnite. Players would reportedly be able to create a party and voice chat from Fortnite, the Epic Games Launcher or Epic’s mobile application. The wording suggests Epic intends the party itself to exist at the account level rather than being tied exclusively to an active Fortnite game session.

One of the more substantial functions described is the ability to move voice chat between devices. A player could potentially begin talking with friends through one platform and continue the same conversation after switching to another device. The leaked text also says users on mobile would be able to background the app without immediately leaving the voice conversation, allowing the phone to operate more like a persistent party-chat client.

Fortnite integration appears to go beyond communication alone. According to the datamined material, when friends accept an Epic Parties invitation they can automatically arrive in the same Fortnite lobby. If implemented as described, that would reduce the number of separate invites or party-management steps required when a group decides to move from general voice chat into a Fortnite session.

The concept resembles functionality Epic experimented with years ago through Fortnite Party Hub. Introduced on mobile in 2019, Party Hub allowed players to see friends, form parties and voice chat before launching Fortnite, while also supporting voice transfers between a phone and another gaming platform. Epic later discontinued Party Hub, and its official support material now states that the feature is no longer available.

Epic Parties would appear to broaden that older idea substantially by extending it beyond the Fortnite mobile client. The leaked description specifically references Fortnite, Epic Games Launcher and the Epic Games mobile app, suggesting Epic is building the system around its broader account and store ecosystem rather than treating it solely as an in-game Fortnite feature. That distinction could make the new system useful even before a group has decided what or where to play.

The mobile component is particularly notable as Epic continues expanding its own distribution platform on phones. The company has been working to increase the availability of both Fortnite and the Epic Games Store on mobile, including plans to bring Fortnite and the Epic Games Store back to iOS in Australia. A persistent social layer across those applications would give Epic another way to connect its mobile and desktop ecosystems.

It is not yet clear whether Epic Parties will replace any existing Fortnite party interfaces or simply sit alongside them. The datamined material also does not establish whether the system will support text messaging, screen sharing, larger group sizes or social features beyond voice chat and invitations. Privacy settings, parental controls and moderation options have likewise not been detailed in the leaked material.

Because the information comes from in-client material surfaced by a dataminer, it provides stronger evidence than an unsupported rumor but still does not guarantee that every listed feature will ship unchanged. Epic routinely develops and tests functionality before public release, and features discovered in game or launcher files can be modified, delayed or removed before becoming available to players.

Epic Games has not announced Epic Parties publicly or provided a launch date. For now, the leaked material indicates the company is working on a persistent cross-device party system spanning Fortnite, the Epic Games Launcher and its mobile app, with voice chat transfers, background mobile conversations and automatic Fortnite lobby joining among the functionality currently described.
