Rain World is getting a new physical Anthology release for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 on February 18, 2027. Announced by Akupara Games, Videocult and physical publisher Serenity Forge, Rain World Anthology bundles the original game with both major expansions, Downpour and The Watcher. Pre-orders are now available in Premium and Collector’s Edition configurations.
One of the more notable details is that the full package is included on the physical media itself. Serenity Forge says the PS5 version contains Rain World, Downpour and The Watcher on the disc, while the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition places all three on the cartridge. That makes it a genuinely self-contained physical release rather than a box that depends on downloading its major expansions after installation.
That distinction has become increasingly relevant as more physical releases rely partly or entirely on downloads. Recent examples include Final Fantasy VII Revelation’s physical editions requiring additional downloads, while some Switch 2 releases have used Game-Key Cards instead of placing the full software on a cartridge. Rain World Anthology is taking the opposite approach by including its core game and both expansions directly on the supplied media.

The Premium Edition is priced at $59.99 through Serenity Forge. Alongside the physical game, it includes an illustrated inner coversheet, an embossed slipcover featuring new artwork, a holographic Slugcat sticker sheet and a soundtrack download card that can be redeemed on a computer or smartphone. Serenity Forge currently lists the edition as a pre-order with shipping expected from February 18.
The $119.99 Collector’s Edition contains everything from the Premium release and adds several larger physical items. Buyers receive a full-size Slugcat scarf, an art book, an acrylic shaker standee and an acrylic keychain, all packaged with the game and its standard extras. The Collector’s Edition is being produced for both PS5 and Switch 2 as well.
Rain World originally launched in 2017 and follows a Slugcat trying to survive inside a hostile ecosystem filled with predators, limited resources and deadly recurring rainfall. Rather than functioning like a conventional platformer, the game places heavy emphasis on learning animal behavior, navigating interconnected environments and surviving encounters where the player is often far from the strongest creature in the food chain.
Downpour substantially expanded that framework when it arrived on PC in January 2023. The expansion introduced five additional playable Slugcats with their own abilities and campaigns, while also adding new regions, creatures and gameplay systems. It was followed by The Watcher in March 2025, which introduced another journey through unfamiliar areas and further expanded the game’s world beyond its original map.
The Switch 2 edition also gives Rain World a dedicated physical release on Nintendo’s newer hardware rather than simply relying on the existing Switch version through backward compatibility. Physical software on Switch 2 has attracted particular scrutiny because different publishers have taken very different approaches to cartridges, Game-Key Cards and download codes. Some releases marketed in physical packaging have contained little or no game data at all, including a listed Red Dead Redemption Switch 2 physical release that included only a download code.
Rain World Anthology therefore serves both as a complete collection for newcomers and as a preservation-focused option for existing fans who want the entire current game on one disc or cartridge. It does not introduce a new campaign beyond Downpour and The Watcher, but it consolidates nearly a decade of Rain World content into one physical package.
Both editions are scheduled to begin shipping on February 18, 2027. Serenity Forge currently lists the Premium Edition at $59.99 and the Collector’s Edition at $119.99, with versions available for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2.
