New Super Smash Bros and Nintendogs games are reportedly in development at Nintendo, according to claims from leaker Malo932. The source says the Smash Bros project is an entirely new entry rather than a Switch 2 port or remaster of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, while Nintendogs is also said to be returning after a 15-year absence. Nintendo has not announced either game, so both claims remain unconfirmed.
Malo932 has recently attracted attention after several Nintendo predictions proved accurate. According to VGC, the YouTube user had previously mentioned a new classic-style Star Fox game, an Ocarina of Time remake and another Nintendo Switch Sports title before those projects became public. Malo932 also correctly predicted that Nintendo would announce two separate Nintendo Direct presentations, including a Zelda-focused show and a standard Direct, several days before Nintendo confirmed them.
That emerging track record gives the latest claims more weight than an anonymous social-media rumor, but it does not independently verify either project. The Smash Bros statement is particularly specific because Malo932 reportedly ruled out a simple re-release of Ultimate and instead described the project as a brand-new game. No details have been provided about its roster, developer, release window or whether longtime series director Masahiro Sakurai is involved.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate launched for Nintendo Switch in December 2018 and eventually expanded to 89 playable fighters including downloadable characters. Nintendo’s crossover fighting series has sold around 77 million units collectively, with Ultimate accounting for approximately 37 million of those sales as of last year. Sakurai has previously said it was reasonable to expect the series to continue eventually, while also acknowledging the difficulty of following a game built around such an unusually large roster and extensive collection of licensed characters.
The alleged Nintendogs revival would bring back a series that has been inactive substantially longer. The original Nintendogs launched on Nintendo DS in multiple versions and sold 23.96 million copies, making it the system’s second best-selling title behind New Super Mario Bros. Nintendo followed it with Nintendogs + Cats for the Nintendo 3DS in 2011, which had sold 3.99 million copies by the end of 2015.
Malo932 has provided far less detail about the supposed new Nintendogs game. The claim appears to have originated through a cryptic reference to a forgotten Nintendo series returning alongside barking and “woof woof” hints, which were widely interpreted as pointing to Nintendogs. There is currently no confirmed title, gameplay information, release window or indication of how a modern entry would use Nintendo Switch 2 hardware.
The same source has recently made several other unconfirmed Nintendo claims. These reportedly include a pixel-art Super Metroid remake, a new Wario Land game, a new 3D Mario title planned for 2027, Mario Kart World downloadable content involving Fox McCloud and another Star Fox adventure project. None of those claims should be treated as confirmed simply because some earlier predictions from the source were accurate.
The timing has naturally created speculation around Nintendo’s upcoming presentations, but the claims themselves were not tied to a specific Direct. Nintendo has already said its standard presentation will focus mainly on games planned for the coming winter, which means even genuine projects in early development may not necessarily appear there. A lack of an announcement during the Direct would therefore not automatically disprove the claims.
For now, the most significant part of the report is the suggestion that Nintendo is preparing full new entries for two major but very different franchises rather than simply reissuing existing games for Switch 2. Super Smash Bros remains one of Nintendo’s largest multiplayer properties, while a Nintendogs revival would resurrect a series absent since the 3DS launch era. Until Nintendo announces either project, however, both should remain firmly categorized as insider claims rather than confirmed upcoming releases.
