Marvel Rivals Season 10 will rebalance roughly 70% of the game’s roster when Butcher’s Blasphemy launches on September 11, NetEase Games has revealed. The developer outlined the upcoming adjustments in its Season 10 Dev Vision, confirming broad changes across Vanguards, Duelists and Strategists alongside more substantial revisions for Scarlet Witch and Black Cat. Gorr the God Butcher will also join the roster as the season’s new Duelist.
Among Vanguards, Magneto, The Thing and The Hood are set to receive nerfs, while Captain America, Rogue, Devil Dinosaur, Emma Frost and Deadpool are being strengthened. The changes target several heroes that have become particularly influential during the Season 9 meta while giving less prominent picks additional help. Exact numerical values for every adjustment are expected to be detailed through NetEase’s full Season 10 balance documentation.
The Duelist category is receiving an equally broad pass. Winter Soldier, Elsa Bloodstone, Black Widow, Magik and Black Cat are among the heroes being weakened, while Star-Lord, Namor, Iron Fist, Wolverine and Psylocke are being buffed. Black Cat is also receiving a more fundamental change: the invulnerability associated with Phantom Pursuit is being removed, although other parts of her kit are being adjusted to compensate rather than leaving the ability as a straight numerical downgrade.

Scarlet Witch is undergoing one of Season 10’s biggest individual changes. Her revised kit introduces a Chaos Mark mechanic that allows attacks to mark opponents, with subsequent damage against marked enemies generating Bonus Health. Her primary attack can then target multiple marked opponents simultaneously, while a new Scarlet Hex ability sends out an area-of-effect wave that damages enemies and applies the mark.
Reality Erasure is being changed as part of the same rework. The Ultimate will begin dealing area damage during its wind-up rather than waiting until the final detonation for all of its offensive impact. Together, those changes shift Scarlet Witch toward setting up marked targets and sustaining herself through aggressive play rather than relying as heavily on her existing straightforward lock-on damage pattern.
Strategists are also receiving a role-wide adjustment to Ultimate generation. NetEase says the increased Ultimate energy efficiency introduced during Season 9 made support Ultimates cycle too frequently, so that efficiency is being reduced again for Season 10. Cloak & Dagger and Mantis are among the Strategists being nerfed, while Jeff the Land Shark, Loki and White Fox are getting buffs as the developer attempts to rebalance the support lineup around the new Ultimate economy.
The Loki changes arrive during an unusual moment for the character. Loki has been disabled in several Marvel Rivals modes ahead of Season 10 and marked as “Missing” in-game as part of the season’s developing storyline, although he has remained available in Competitive. NetEase’s Season 10 cinematic places that disappearance directly within Gorr’s arrival and his conflict with Marvel’s gods.
Gorr himself is the headline addition to Season 10: Butcher’s Blasphemy, joining as a melee-focused Duelist who uses the Necrosword and can create Black Berserkers from defeated enemies. Those summons can operate independently in combat, giving Gorr another source of pressure beyond his own close-range attacks. NetEase has also confirmed that he will be the only new playable hero during Season 10, with no additional hero planned for Season 10.5.
Season 10 therefore represents another large balance pass rather than a small collection of isolated nerfs and buffs. Approximately seven in ten heroes are being touched in some form, while the Strategist Ultimate change, Scarlet Witch rework and Black Cat adjustment could have broader effects on team composition and the competitive meta. NetEase is expected to publish the complete numerical balance details alongside the September 11 update.
