Konami has officially announced Yu-Gi-Oh! TAG FORCE GX, a remake of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX TAG FORCE 3 launching February 16, 2027. The Card Game RPG is coming to Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam, with pre-orders now open. The remake brings back Duel Academy with upgraded visuals, expanded card options and online multiplayer while preserving the partner-based structure of the original game.

TAG FORCE GX follows the final year at Duel Academy and lets players choose a partner from more than 100 visually upgraded characters. Building relationships remains a major part of progression, with players spending time with classmates, taking part in mini-games and Dueling together before preparing for a Graduation Duel. Tag Duels return as a central mechanic, allowing players to coordinate Deck strategies with familiar characters from the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime.

Konami says the remake includes more than 3,800 cards, expanding beyond the selection featured in the original GX TAG FORCE 3. The card pool includes additional fan-favorite options intended to support a wider range of GX-era Decks and strategies. While the game draws heavily from the anime period, Konami notes that some card text, artwork and rules differ from the physical Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game.

Several presentation upgrades are being introduced as part of the remake. Characters and 3D monster scenes have been visually overhauled, while Ace Monsters can appear through newly animated Summoning sequences. Duels are also fully voiced in both English and Japanese, bringing the anime cast more directly into the game’s story and battles.

A new Gallery mode expands the remake beyond the content of TAG FORCE 3 itself. Players can revisit story material from Yu-Gi-Oh! GX TAG FORCE and TAG FORCE 2, providing additional context for the events leading into the third game. Konami is also adding new and renewed mini-games, alongside a Casual difficulty setting designed for players who want to focus more heavily on the story and character interactions.

Online multiplayer is another major addition. TAG FORCE GX supports both Casual Duels and Room Matches, with players able to take part in traditional one-on-one battles as well as Tag Duels over the internet. Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 players will require a Nintendo Switch Online membership for online features, while the Switch 2 edition also supports mouse controls.

The physical Switch and Switch 2 editions come with three limited Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG cards: Yubel in Starlight Rare, along with Wicked Canon and Hope for the Future in Ultra Rare. Konami says Wicked Canon and Hope for the Future are making their physical card debuts roughly two decades after appearing in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime. The physical Switch 2 edition will be distributed as a Game-Key Card rather than containing the complete game data on the card itself.

Digital pre-orders on Nintendo platforms include a separate bonus for Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel. Buyers receive a redemption code for digital versions of Yubel, Wicked Canon and Hope for the Future, all in Royal Finish, along with a Winged Kuriboh Mate. Steam pre-orders instead include TAG FORCE GX wallpapers and profile icons, while all Steam purchases also receive a digital “Duelist Directory” book.

The original Yu-Gi-Oh! GX TAG FORCE 3 launched in Japan in 2008 and later reached other regions on PSP. Like the broader TAG FORCE series, it combined Deck building and traditional Dueling with social elements built around choosing partners and strengthening relationships. TAG FORCE GX keeps that basic structure while rebuilding the presentation and adding modern online functionality.

Yu-Gi-Oh! TAG FORCE GX launches February 16, 2027 for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch and PC. With over 3,800 cards, more than 100 potential partners, online Tag Duels, voiced battles and expanded story material, the remake is positioned as a substantial modernization of the final GX-era TAG FORCE entry.
