Sony Interactive Entertainment says it is working with Valve to restore several PlayStation-published PC games that were unexpectedly delisted from Steam in the UK. The issue affects select titles including Helldivers 2 and Horizon Forbidden West, preventing new purchases while leaving existing owners able to continue playing their games. Sony has confirmed that the removals were made in error rather than as part of a planned regional policy change.
The problem was noticed by players on September 16 when store pages for some Sony-published PC games disappeared from the UK version of Steam. VGC subsequently contacted Sony, which acknowledged the issue and said it was working with Valve to resolve it. The company apologized for the inconvenience but did not provide a timetable for when the affected games would return.
The key point for current owners is that the delistings do not revoke access to games already purchased. Players who have Helldivers 2, Horizon Forbidden West or other affected titles in their Steam libraries can still install and launch them normally. The disruption is instead limited to availability for new purchases in the UK while Sony and Valve work through the store issue.
Sony has not published a complete list of every affected title, so the full scope of the problem remains unclear. Helldivers 2 and Horizon Forbidden West were among the games most widely identified by players, while other PlayStation-published PC releases appeared to remain available. That uneven pattern helped distinguish the incident from an intentional withdrawal of Sony’s wider PC catalogue.
The situation also prompted speculation that the removals might be connected to UK regulations or PlayStation Network requirements, but Sony’s statement points to a store error rather than a policy decision. There is currently no indication that Sony is ending sales of the affected games in the UK or introducing a new regional restriction. Until the listings are restored, however, users in the region cannot buy the affected titles directly through Steam.
Helldivers 2 is one of the most significant games caught up in the issue. Arrowhead’s co-op shooter launched on PC and PlayStation 5 in February 2024 and became one of Sony’s biggest recent releases, reaching 12 million sales across both platforms within its first 12 weeks. The game was also added to the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog in August 2026, expanding its availability on PS5.
This is not the first time Helldivers 2 has faced regional availability problems on Steam. In 2024, Sony’s planned PlayStation Network account requirement led to the game being restricted in numerous countries where PSN was not officially supported, before the company later reversed course on the account requirement. Sony subsequently removed many of those regional purchase restrictions in 2025.
The latest UK delisting appears to be unrelated to that earlier controversy. Sony’s current statement specifically describes the problem as an issue affecting the availability of select titles and says the company is working directly with Valve to correct it. That makes the present situation more comparable to a storefront configuration problem than a deliberate licensing or account-access change.
The incident nevertheless highlights how quickly regional storefront problems can affect access to digital games. Even when existing customers retain their licenses, removing a store listing immediately blocks new purchases and can create confusion over whether a game has been intentionally withdrawn. Similar temporary availability issues can also complicate sales promotions, wishlists and regional pricing until the underlying store data is corrected.
Sony has not said when Helldivers 2, Horizon Forbidden West and any other affected games will be restored on Steam in the UK. For now, existing owners remain unaffected, while prospective buyers will need to wait for Sony and Valve to complete the fix.
