Sony appears to be testing an unannounced PlayStation Store rewards system that gives some players Wallet Credit after purchasing select games. Multiple users have now reported seeing offers worth $10 on the PS5 store, with one player saying the credit appeared immediately after buying The Blood of Dawnwalker. Sony Interactive Entertainment has not formally announced the feature or explained how broadly it is being tested.
The latest reports surfaced on September 21, when a Reddit user shared an offer displayed alongside The Blood of Dawnwalker on the PlayStation Store. The user later said the reward was exactly $10 and arrived immediately after completing the purchase. Similar Wallet Credit promotions have reportedly appeared alongside other games, including Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Halloween, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy and Star Wars Zero Company.
The offers do not appear to be available universally. Insider Gaming said it was unable to reproduce the feature on consoles in Brazil, India or the United Kingdom, while other users have reported seeing it through their own PlayStation Store accounts. That suggests Sony could be running a limited regional or account-based test rather than launching the system globally.

The Wallet Credits name itself is not new. Earlier in 2026, an official PlayStation Store listing titled “WALLET CREDITS” appeared under Sony Interactive Entertainment, with the product shown in an announced state and carrying no release date. The listing remains visible on Sony’s store, although it provides virtually no description beyond the name and publisher.
At the time, it was unclear whether Wallet Credits would become a rewards system, a new method of purchasing PlayStation wallet funds or something else entirely. The latest purchase-linked offers provide the strongest indication so far that Sony may use the name for a cashback-style incentive. Rather than earning points first and later exchanging them for rewards, the current implementation appears to award store credit directly when an eligible game is purchased.
The timing is notable because Sony is approaching the final shutdown of PlayStation Stars. Sony stopped accepting new members into the loyalty program in May 2025 and ended the ability to earn new Points, Digital Collectibles and status benefits later that year. Existing members can still access remaining parts of the program and redeem eligible Points, but PlayStation Stars is scheduled to shut down completely on November 2, 2026.
When announcing the closure, Sony said it was evaluating what it had learned from PlayStation Stars and looking at ways to evolve its loyalty-program efforts in the future. The appearance of purchase-triggered Wallet Credits naturally raises the possibility that this system could form part of that strategy. However, Sony has not connected Wallet Credits to PlayStation Stars publicly, so any suggestion that one is directly replacing the other remains speculative.
Several important details are still unknown, including which accounts qualify, how eligible games are selected and whether the value of the reward can vary. It is also unclear whether publishers participate in the promotion, whether the credit is funded entirely by Sony, or whether rewards carry expiration dates or other restrictions. The limited rollout means the mechanics could also change before any wider release.
For now, the combination of an existing official Wallet Credits store listing and multiple users receiving real credit following purchases makes the feature more concrete than the earlier listing alone. What remains uncertain is whether Sony is preparing a permanent rewards program or simply experimenting with targeted promotional credits for selected games. Until the company announces the system, availability should be expected to vary between users and regions.
