Resident Evil Veronica may now be targeting a fall 2027 release, according to Resident Evil insider Dusk Golem. The leaker says he has heard the revised timing from three separate sources and now believes there is a “high chance” the project has moved later into the year. Capcom has only officially committed to a 2027 release window, so this would not constitute a formal delay.
Dusk Golem said he has not independently confirmed the new window through his own direct source, but added that he trusts the people who provided the information. He also stressed that the situation should still be treated cautiously because development plans can change. The report therefore points to an internal scheduling shift rather than a publicly announced release date being moved.
The new timing would mark a change from earlier reports around the remake. Dusk Golem previously indicated that Resident Evil Veronica was expected earlier in 2027, while other reporting had placed the project around the first part of the year. Capcom formally announced the remake in June 2026 and confirmed a 2027 release, but did not narrow that window further.

According to Dusk Golem, late changes to the project may be contributing to the revised schedule. He says he was already aware that Capcom was making changes to the game relatively late in development, with the scope and amount of extra work still uncertain at the time. His current interpretation is that the team may have decided to make the remake more ambitious, requiring additional development time before launch.
That would be consistent with earlier reports that Resident Evil Veronica is being treated as a more substantial reimagining rather than a straightforward visual remake. Dusk Golem has previously claimed that Capcom is changing and remixing parts of the original while still preserving its major locations, enemies and story beats. Capcom itself has not publicly detailed the extent of those changes, so the exact scope remains uncertain.
The reported shift may also help explain why Resident Evil Veronica did not receive a major showing at Tokyo Game Show 2026. Dusk Golem suggested that Capcom could instead be positioning the game for a stronger presence at Tokyo Game Show next year if the current target is indeed fall 2027. That remains speculation on his part rather than confirmed scheduling information from Capcom.
The remake is based on Resident Evil Code: Veronica, which originally launched for Dreamcast in 2000 before later versions arrived on PlayStation 2 and GameCube. The game follows Claire Redfield after the events of Resident Evil 2 and later shifts focus to Chris Redfield, with much of the story taking place on Rockfort Island and in Antarctica. Capcom’s recent remake strategy has already modernized several earlier entries, with Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4 also heading to Nintendo Switch 2 as the company continues expanding access to the modern versions.
For now, the only official release information remains 2027. Dusk Golem’s latest report narrows that possibility to the fall and suggests internal development changes may be responsible, but Capcom has not confirmed a season, month or exact date. Until the publisher provides an updated schedule, fall 2027 should be treated as a reported internal target rather than a finalized launch window.
