Fortnite’s Fortnitemares 2026 key art has revealed the first look at its upcoming Black Clover and The Purge collaborations. The artwork surfaced on September 28 through Fortnite’s promotional material and was quickly highlighted by prominent Fortnite aggregators HYPEX and ShiinaBR. While Epic Games has not yet detailed individual Item Shop releases, the key art places both properties among the major crossovers planned for this year’s Halloween event.
The Black Clover portion of the artwork prominently features Asta, the anime and manga series’ main protagonist, wielding his large Demon-Slayer Sword. His appearance in the official Fortnitemares artwork provides substantially more concrete evidence for the crossover than earlier reports based only on datamined information. The Purge is also represented directly in the key art, with imagery associated with the horror franchise appearing alongside the other Fortnitemares properties. The collaboration had already been linked to Fortnite through earlier teasers and reports, including a reference to The Purge at Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights event. The new artwork strengthens that connection by placing The Purge alongside the other crossover properties in Fortnite’s official Halloween promotional material.
The artwork includes several other major names beyond Black Clover and The Purge. Five Nights at Freddy’s, Slender Man, Freddy Krueger from A Nightmare on Elm Street and Beetlejuice are also represented, creating a lineup that combines anime, modern horror and established slasher characters. Beetlejuice is represented more subtly through a gravestone bearing his name, while Asta and the horror characters are much easier to identify.
The appearance of Asta and The Purge imagery does not yet establish the complete contents of either collaboration. Epic has not announced which additional Black Clover characters will receive Outfits, whether The Purge will include multiple characters, or what accessories, emotes and other cosmetics may accompany the crossovers. Exact Item Shop release dates also remain unannounced, so players will have to wait for Epic’s Fortnitemares rollout to learn when the individual cosmetics become available.
Black Clover has been one of the more persistent anime crossover rumors surrounding Fortnite in recent weeks. Earlier reports identified the franchise as an upcoming Fortnitemares collaboration, but details about the planned cosmetics were limited. The appearance of Asta in the new artwork now gives those reports a specific character to focus on, although it remains unclear whether other characters such as Yuno, Noelle or other members of the Black Bulls will be included.
The Purge similarly joins a broader group of horror properties connected to Fortnitemares 2026. The event has already been associated with several horror-themed teasers and reported collaborations, with the new key art providing a clearer picture of the franchises Epic is highlighting for the Halloween season. Fortnitemares 2026 is scheduled to begin October 1, giving Epic several weeks to introduce its Halloween content and rotate the crossover cosmetics through the Item Shop. The newly revealed artwork confirms Black Clover and The Purge as part of the event’s visual lineup, but the specific skins and release schedule remain to be announced. More details are likely to emerge as the event approaches and Epic begins revealing individual Fortnitemares releases.
