Dead by Daylight is officially crossing over with NieR:Automata, with Behaviour Interactive confirming that a themed collection will launch on October 6. The announcement follows a series of cryptic teasers that prompted players to connect the collaboration to Square Enix’s action RPG before Behaviour named it directly. The studio has not yet revealed the full cosmetic lineup or pricing.
Behaviour confirmed the crossover through Dead by Daylight’s official social channels with the message that “the fight for humanity continues in The Fog,” alongside the October 6 release date. The collaboration is specifically being described as a NieR:Automata Collection rather than a full Chapter, pointing toward cosmetic content for existing Dead by Daylight characters rather than the addition of a new Killer or Survivor. In Japan, the collection is scheduled to arrive on October 7 because of the time-zone difference.
The reveal came after Behaviour posted teaser material styled around NieR’s distinctive visual language. Fans quickly identified symbols resembling the fictional scripts used across the series and connected the stark black-and-white presentation to YoRHa’s interface aesthetic. Those clues proved accurate once Behaviour followed up with the formal NieR:Automata announcement.

Exactly which characters and outfits will be included remains unconfirmed. 2B is an obvious candidate given her status as NieR:Automata’s most recognizable character, while 9S and A2 are also central to the game, but Behaviour has not announced any of those characters for the collection. Until the full lineup is shown, specific skin assignments should be treated as speculation rather than confirmed content.
The Collection format is familiar territory for Dead by Daylight. Behaviour has repeatedly used cosmetic crossovers to bring characters and designs from outside franchises into the game without creating a complete licensed Chapter. That approach allows the studio to adapt recognizable outfits and character identities onto existing Survivors or Killers while leaving Dead by Daylight’s core roster and gameplay systems unchanged.
NieR:Automata is also no stranger to crossover appearances. Since its original 2017 release, the game has collaborated with a wide range of titles across console, PC and mobile platforms, including Overwatch, Stellar Blade, Soulcalibur VI and several live-service games. Its characters, particularly 2B, have become frequent crossover choices because of the game’s distinctive visual identity and continued popularity.
The announcement is separate from speculation that NieR could eventually appear in Fortnite. ShiinaBR highlighted the Dead by Daylight collaboration while noting NieR’s recent appearances in multiple games, but there is currently no confirmed Fortnite collaboration tied to this announcement. Epic Games has not announced NieR cosmetics, and Behaviour’s reveal provides no evidence that a Fortnite crossover is planned.
That distinction matters given the number of franchise crossovers currently circulating through leaks and official announcements. Fortnite has recently expanded its own licensed lineup through projects such as the Black Clover cosmetic release, while other crossover rumors continue to surface separately. Dead by Daylight’s NieR collaboration, by contrast, is now formally confirmed and has a fixed release date.
Dead by Daylight has continued to broaden its crossover roster beyond traditional horror properties in recent years. Alongside established horror licenses such as Resident Evil, Silent Hill and Stranger Things, Behaviour has introduced collaborations with franchises including Castlevania and The Witcher. The NieR:Automata Collection continues that expansion by bringing a science-fiction action RPG into The Fog through a cosmetic-focused release.
The remaining details should become clear when the collection goes live on October 6. Behaviour has yet to publish the complete list of cosmetics, which Dead by Daylight characters will receive them, or how individual items will be priced. For now, the confirmed information is limited but straightforward: NieR:Automata is officially coming to Dead by Daylight as a Collection, and it arrives in two days.
