Unreal Engine 5 has powered some of the most visually stunning games in recent years—but it’s also been notorious for inconsistent performance and stutter issues on PC. Many developers have struggled to strike the right balance between graphical fidelity and smooth gameplay.

Now, one studio seems to have found a way to change that, delivering an experience that runs far better than most of its peers.

ARC Raiders PC performance has surprised players and critics alike, as Embark Studios manages to deliver one of the smoothest Unreal Engine 5 experiences to date. By stripping away demanding UE5 features such as Lumen, Nanite, and Virtual Shadow Maps, the developers have achieved remarkable frame-time consistency and eliminated shader compilation stutter entirely.

The result is a game that feels fluid and responsive across a wide range of hardware configurations, standing out in a year filled with technically troubled UE5 releases.

Importance: ARC Raiders PC performance marks a major step forward for Unreal Engine 5 optimization, showing that stability and scalability can outperform visual excess in delivering smooth gameplay.

    Technical Decisions Behind Smooth Performance

In-depth testing of ARC Raiders PC performance reveals how Embark Studios’ smart technical decisions helped the game run efficiently without sacrificing its visual identity.

Instead of relying on heavy UE5 systems like Lumen for global illumination or Nanite for geometry rendering, the team used probe-based RTXGI lighting and traditional rendering techniques. This choice greatly improved CPU scaling and minimized traversal hitches, with frame-rate caps further enhancing smoothness on systems like the Ryzen 5 3600.

    Trade-Offs Of Stripping UE5 Features

While the removal of certain UE5 features comes with drawbacks—such as lower shadow resolution, occasional light leaks, and dated screen-space reflections—the game maintains strong visual cohesion and atmosphere.

Most importantly, these optimizations make ARC Raiders one of the few UE5-powered titles to achieve stable, stutter-free performance on PC, proving that smart compromises can lead to a technically superior experience.
