Batman: Arkham Knight’s troubled history on Nintendo platforms has made it a frequent point of discussion whenever new hardware or updates enter the picture.

With the arrival of Nintendo Switch 2 and renewed attention on backwards compatibility, expectations have quietly grown around whether long-standing technical compromises might finally be addressed. A recent update has once again put the game under the spotlight, prompting closer examination of what, if anything, has meaningfully changed.

The Arkham Knight Switch 2 Patch has now rolled out, bringing another round of adjustments to one of the most criticized third-party ports on Nintendo hardware.

While the update is positioned as an improvement for players using the game through Switch 2’s backwards compatibility, early testing suggests its scope is far narrower than many had anticipated, raising questions about how far the publisher is willing to go in revisiting the troubled port.

Importance: The Arkham Knight Switch 2 Patch is significant mainly as a signal of how publishers may handle Switch 2 backwards compatibility, prioritizing minor tweaks over full upgrades. Its limited impact sets cautious expectations for legacy ports on the new hardware.

Despite the Arkham Knight Switch 2 Patch, anti-aliasing, geometry, and textures remain largely unchanged

    Portable Mode Resolution Boost

A closer technical breakdown of the Arkham Knight’s new patch shows that its changes are largely limited to portable play, where resolution has been increased compared to the original Switch release.

Outside of this handheld boost, docked mode remains unchanged, with no meaningful upgrades to anti-aliasing, geometry, textures, or overall visual settings.

    Persistent Visual Compromises

Performance behavior is largely similar to pre-patch results, and long-standing visual compromises tied to the Switch 1 codebase persist, reinforcing the sense that this is a minimal backwards-compatibility tweak rather than a full Switch 2 optimization.
