Anonymous posts on 4chan have ignited speculation about FromSoftware’s next project with a new leak that describes a game where the entire world is contained within an “island-sized ship” that has “crashed on top and merged” with a landmass.
According to the posts, the title allegedly includes the word “Vessel,” and the player character is referred to as the “Drowned” — a naming convention consistent with past FromSoftware protagonists like the Tarnished (Elden Ring) or the Ashen One (Dark Souls III). However, this new information stands in stark contrast—and in direct contradiction—to a separate wave of leaks from the same platform that surfaced less than a week prior.
Around May 7, 2026, an anonymous 4chan user posted details regarding an entirely different FromSoftware title, claiming it would be announced during the Summer Game Fest on June 5, 2026. That leak named the game Cerulean Onslaught, described it as a “dark action RPG” where players sail an ocean and explore islands using a ship as a hub, and most notably, asserted the game would launch in August 2026—merely two months after its reveal.
However, the rumor drew in a lot of skepticism due to the aggressive timeline and the anonymity of the source. The new “Vessel” leak directly refutes that timeline, explicitly stating there is “no information as to when the game could release.” This creates a verifiable inconsistency between the two anonymous posts, suggesting they do not originate from a single, consistent source.
For industry observers tracking FromSoftware’s upcoming slate—which already includes The Duskbloods for Nintendo Switch 2 and continued support for Elden Ring Nightreign—the contradictions are significant. The studio’s recent history under parent company Kadokawa Corporation favors long marketing cycles for major IP.
Elden Ring, which sold over 25 million units, was revealed years before launch. Analysts note that a “two-month from reveal to release” window, as proposed by the Cerulean Onslaught leak, is almost unheard of for a AAA title on the scale of a new FromSoftware IP.
Conversely, the “Vessel” narrative focusing on a single, interconnected “ship” environment is mechanically closer to the dense world design of Dark Souls or Bloodborne. 4chan leaks have historically been a mix of accurate scoops and obvious fan fiction, making verification impossible without official confirmation.

The specific inconsistency between the two leaks is clear: the initial leak asserts an August 2026 launch “two months after reveal,” while the new “Vessel” leak contains “no information” on a release date, directly contradicting the prior claim.
Regarding naming conventions, the leak’s claim of the protagonist being called “Drowned” fits the studio’s established pattern (The Tarnished, The Ashen One, The Hunter). However, the previously leaked title Cerulean Onslaught was widely criticized as being “un-FromSoftware-like” due to its generic fantasy tone.
Given the anonymous nature of 4chan and the direct contradictions regarding the release timeline, these two leaks appear to be competing fabrications rather than sequential updates about a single genuine project. The verifiable test for the Cerulean Onslaught leak is the Summer Game Fest on June 5, 2026. If the game is not shown there, that rumor is effectively dead.
Until FromSoftware or its parent company, Kadokawa, issues a formal statement, the “Vessel” leak remains an intriguing but likely unreliable piece of fan speculation.
