The world of gaming is no stranger to rumors, and when it comes to PlayStation’s live-service ambitions, speculation tends to spread quickly. One upcoming PS5 title in particular has recently found itself at the center of heated discussion, with fans questioning whether the project is even still alive.

Recent chatter around PlayStation’s upcoming heist-based shooter Fairgames suggested the title had been scrapped following internal struggles and the departure of its founder, Jade Raymond.

The speculation gained traction after industry analyst Michael Pachter mentioned the game’s supposed cancellation during one of his shows, sparking widespread debate online about the project’s future.

However, Pachter has clarified that he misspoke and does not have any information confirming Fairgames has been cancelled. This correction puts to rest the wave of speculation, with the game still officially in development despite its uncertain trajectory.

Importance: This news clarifies that Fairgames is not cancelled, calming fan concerns while highlighting how quickly rumors can spread. It also underscores he scrutiny on Haven Studio and Sony’s live-service strategy.

    Fairgames Cancelled Rumors Origin

The cancellation talk originated from episode of The Pachter Factor, where Michael Pachter appeared to link Jade Raymond’s exit from Haven Studio with the end of Fairgames. His comments, however, were later clarified—admitting he had “misspoken” and had no concrete information.

While Raymond had indeed left the studio she founded, Sony previously stated that it remains committed to supporting Haven, which it acquired to strengthen its live-service portfolio.

Early Alpha Test Feedback And Its Impact

Reports indicate that an early alpha test for Fairgames received largely negative feedback, leading to shifts in leadership and questions about the project’s direction.

Despite these setbacks, the game has not been officially cancelled, and development is understood to still be underway. That said, given the difficulties and PlayStation’s recent track record with live-service titles, the future of Fairgames remains uncertain.
