Resident Evil Requiem Will Reportedly Be The End Of Leon’s Journey

A well-known Resident Evil insider claims that the upcoming Resident Evil Requiem will mark the end of Leon S. Kennedy’s long-running story arc in the series.

The information comes from reliable leaker Dusk Golem, who has a strong track record for accurately revealing details about Capcom’s survival horror franchise ahead of official announcements.

In a recent post on social media, Dusk Golem confirmed that Resident Evil Requiem will feature two main protagonists — Leon S. Kennedy and a new character named Grace. While both will play significant roles in the narrative, the leaker hinted that Leon’s involvement will carry special weight, describing the project as “in many ways” feeling like Leon’s “send-off game.”

Leon & Grace are the main protagonists of Resident Evil Requiem, yes. I am repeating myself a bit there, but will end up being the case. Both play big roles, but I think when all is said & done, this in many ways will come off more as Leon's send-off game. https://t.co/bCibvD7RXZ

This comes amid a broader wave of official reveal details. Resident Evil Requiem (a.k.a. Resident Evil 9) was officially unveiled at Summer Game Fest 2025, confirming the release date of February 27, 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The game introduces Grace Ashcroft, an introverted FBI analyst investigating unsettling deaths linked to her mother’s traumatic past.

Interestingly, Capcom director Koshi Nakanishi has previously downplayed Leon’s role, suggesting he wasn’t a natural fit for horror and deeming Grace the ‘new main character.’ This contrast has only fueled speculation, as well-known leaker Dusk Golem has claimed that players will spend ‘far more’ time as Leon than Grace. Dusk Golem maintains that Requiem is ultimately Leon’s ‘send-off game,’ despite the official messaging.

All signs point to Requiem functioning as a dual-narrative experience. On the one hand, Grace advances a deeply rooted personal mystery. On the other, Leon’s rumored prominence signals an emotional, perhaps final arc for a beloved franchise icon.

    Resident Evil 9

Fans won’t have to wait long for more insight. Capcom has slated an “exclusive new look” at Resident Evil Requiem during Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 19, 2025, where a new trailer will debut globally. Attendees will also have a playable demo from August 20 to 24, offering the first hands-on glimpse of the gameplay.

This exclusive showcase comes just weeks after the Summer Game Fest reveal and ahead of the game’s release early next year. It’s poised to answer lingering questions—notably about Leon’s true role and whether Requiem is indeed his final curtain call.

The stage is set: whether you’re a long-time Resident Evil fan hoping for a proper send-off or newcomers eager for a fresh horror experience, August’s Gamescom unveiling promises pivotal revelations that could redefine the series—or give Leon the farewell he deserves.
