Infinity Ward has released another Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta update, adding the new Ground War: Combat Outpost mode alongside two large-scale maps, Wolves Stadium and Imjin Farmlands.
The August 29 patch went live at 10 AM PT and marks the second day of the game’s open beta weekend.
Infinity Ward says the update was built around player feedback gathered during the beta while also introducing more content to the current playlist rotation.
The headline addition is Ground War: Combat Outpost.
The mode is a large-scale 24v24 variation built around capturing and holding Outposts across significantly larger maps.
Unlike standard Domination, captured Outposts can be used as spawn locations and generate resources over time.
Those resources contribute toward escalating team rewards, including local UAV support and heavier vehicles.
The mode combines infantry combat with vehicles across two purpose-built environments.
Imjin Farmlands takes place across a more open rural section of Haijin, with fields, waterways, farms, roads, rail lines and a large mill creating longer sightlines and more opportunities for vehicle movement.
Wolves Stadium provides the opposite setup.
The map is centered around a dense urban stadium district filled with multi-story buildings, tunnels, rooftops, transit routes and elevated positions.
Both maps were previously announced as part of Modern Warfare 4’s beta content schedule, but August 29 is the first time Combat Outpost and the two Ground War maps have become playable during the current open beta.
The update also includes a smaller round of multiplayer balance changes.
Infinity Ward says weapons holding fewer than 60 rounds in reserve will now receive an additional magazine, or an equivalent amount of ammunition.
The change follows the broader time-to-kill adjustments introduced for the open beta on August 28, which reduced the damage of numerous weapons to increase overall survivability.
Infinity Ward says the extra reserve ammunition is intended to compensate for players generally requiring more rounds to secure eliminations.
The .50 GS has also received a substantial nerf when using its GS Magna Apex attachment.
Its maximum damage has been reduced from 46 to 34, while its minimum damage has dropped from 37 to 27.
The weapon now gains an additional middle damage range of 30 damage between approximately 20.3 and 44.4 meters.
Infinity Ward is otherwise keeping weapon tuning relatively limited in this patch as it evaluates the larger adjustments applied to every beta weapon the previous day.
Kill Confirmed has also been adjusted.
Tags can now be collected immediately after they drop, and the pickup radius has been increased, making it easier for players to secure confirms without having to move directly over the tag.
PC players receive general performance improvements in the same update, although Infinity Ward warns that some in-game settings may reset to their defaults after installing the patch.
Several bugs have also been addressed.
Care Packages should no longer occasionally fail to appear after being called in, teammate dots should stop becoming permanently stuck on the mini-map and a visual issue affecting enemy Operators after being hit with a Snapshot Grenade has been fixed.
Infinity Ward has also restored the ability to choose between Independent and Affected field-of-view behavior and fixed several menu, progression and Mobility Course issues.
Warzone Resurgence received its own smaller set of changes on August 29.
Multiple UAVs will no longer combine into an Advanced UAV, footstep audio distances have been adjusted to more closely match the live Warzone experience and players can now reduce first-person camera movement to a minimum setting of 25%.
The update follows a much broader August 28 patch that changed Modern Warfare 4’s time-to-kill, movement, Tactical Sprint, aim assist, spawns and Killstreak balance.
Infinity Ward has made clear that those systems remain experimental during the beta and could change again before launch.
The Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta runs until September 1, giving Infinity Ward several more days to gather feedback before the full game releases on October 23, 2026.
