Fortnite’s upcoming Mega Man cosmetic set appears to be much larger than previously detailed, with newly examined v42.10 files pointing to a full Outfit bundle and Rush Sidekick. According to Fortnite leak account ShiinaBR, the currently encrypted collaboration contains a Mega Man skin, back bling, pickaxe, emote and spray alongside Rush, Mega Man’s robotic dog. Epic Games has confirmed Mega Man content is coming during Chapter 7 Season 4: Override, but it has not officially detailed this cosmetic lineup or announced when the set will be released.

The information comes from encrypted content added with Fortnite’s September 3 update. Encryption prevents dataminers from directly extracting and displaying the cosmetics before Epic decrypts them, but metadata surrounding an encrypted package can sometimes expose details about the types of items it contains. In this case, the reported package structure indicates that Mega Man will receive considerably more than a single Outfit.

Rush is the most notable addition in the leak because he is reportedly being introduced through Fortnite’s Sidekick system rather than simply appearing as a back bling. The robotic dog has been Mega Man’s recurring companion since Mega Man 3 and is known throughout the series for transforming into support forms including Rush Coil, Rush Jet and Rush Marine. Epic’s official Override marketing has already established Mega Man as one of the season’s major gaming collaborations, but the company has not yet publicly explained exactly how Rush will function in Fortnite.

    Fortnite

Sidekicks are companion cosmetics that accompany players through Fortnite experiences and react to their surroundings. They do not provide information about nearby enemies or items, distinguishing them from gameplay-focused Sprites that can grant Battle Royale abilities. If the datamined information is accurate, Rush will therefore accompany players as a cosmetic companion rather than reproducing the utility-based abilities he provides Mega Man in Capcom’s games.

The rest of the encrypted package reportedly contains the traditional components of a larger Fortnite collaboration. Mega Man is expected to receive his own playable Outfit alongside a back bling, harvesting tool, emote and spray, although the names and appearances of those individual cosmetics remain hidden. It is also unclear whether any of them will be bundled together, sold separately or offered through quests or another promotion.

Epic had already officially named Mega Man among the collaborations scheduled to receive new items and Outfits during Override. The crossover has also had a significant gameplay presence from the start of the season through the Mega Buster, while the v42.10 gameplay update expanded the season’s rotating crossover content further. The September 3 patch also introduced additional Mega Man-themed gameplay elements, making the encrypted cosmetic set another part of a collaboration that is being rolled out progressively rather than all at once.

The timing of the new files is notable because Fortnite v42.10 launched on September 3 with a large collection of new and encrypted content. Epic often keeps major collaboration cosmetics encrypted until shortly before their intended release, preventing complete models and promotional assets from appearing through routine datamining. The existence of the package therefore does not establish an exact Item Shop date.

There is also an important distinction between what Epic has confirmed and what the leak adds. Mega Man’s involvement in Fortnite is official, and Epic has already said Mega Man items and Outfits will arrive during Chapter 7 Season 4. The claim that the unreleased set specifically consists of a skin, back bling, pickaxe, emote, spray and Rush Sidekick currently comes from the v42.10 datamine and should remain treated as leaked information until the files are decrypted or Epic publishes the complete set.

For now, the encrypted package provides the clearest indication yet of what Fortnite players can expect when Mega Man’s cosmetic release arrives. A playable Mega Man Outfit paired with Rush would give the crossover both a central character skin and one of the franchise’s most recognizable companions. Epic has not announced a release date or pricing, leaving the eventual Item Shop reveal to confirm the final contents of the set.
