The Blood of Dawnwalker is now available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, marking the debut release from Rebel Wolves. Bandai Namco and the developer confirmed the September 3 launch alongside a new trailer providing a final look at protagonist Coen, the vampire-ruled region of Vale Sangora and the game’s action-RPG systems. The title is also available through Xbox Play Anywhere on Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC.

Set in 14th-century Europe during the Black Death, The Blood of Dawnwalker takes place in Vale Sangora, an isolated region in the Carpathian Mountains. Vampires known as the vrakhiri have taken control after using their blood to protect the local population from the plague, positioning themselves as seemingly benevolent rulers. Their control becomes increasingly brutal, however, as people disappear and those who resist are punished.

Players control Coen, a young man transformed into a Dawnwalker after rebelling against vampire ruler Brencis. The transformation does not work as intended, leaving Coen human during the day and vampiric at night rather than placing him completely under his sire’s control. Brencis threatens to execute Coen’s family and village in 30 days as part of his coronation, creating the central time limit around which the story is structured.

That 30-day period is more than narrative background. Taking on significant quests advances time, forcing players to decide which characters, objectives and opportunities deserve attention before the deadline arrives. Rebel Wolves has designed the system so that players cannot simply complete every activity in one playthrough, with both action and inaction capable of influencing how events develop across Vale Sangora.

Coen’s abilities also change between day and night. During daylight hours, he fights primarily as a human using weapons and magic, while nighttime gives him access to more aggressive vampiric abilities and supernatural movement. The two states provide different ways to approach combat, exploration and quests, with some opportunities and mysteries dependent on when players choose to pursue them.

Vale Sangora itself is a handcrafted open world containing forests, plains, swamps, mountains and medieval settlements. Players can explore ruins, mines and caves while encountering creatures drawn from European folklore alongside the game’s vampires. Tatzelwurms, kobolds, ghosts and other supernatural threats appear throughout the region, while witchcraft provides another source of abilities and dangerous knowledge.

The launch material also emphasizes the role of alliances. Humans living under Brencis’ rule may be willing to rebel, but Coen’s vampiric nature means gaining their trust is not guaranteed. Players can seek allies, gather resources such as silver and decide whether to strengthen a resistance movement or pursue more direct and potentially destructive solutions to the central conflict.

Choice extends into conversations and quest outcomes as well. Rebel Wolves describes The Blood of Dawnwalker as a narrative RPG where players can shape Coen’s reputation and decide whether he is remembered as a protector, a monster or something between the two. The 30-day structure is intended to reinforce those decisions by preventing players from indefinitely postponing difficult choices.

The project is the first game created by Rebel Wolves, a Polish studio founded by developers with experience on large-scale RPGs. The Blood of Dawnwalker has been in development for more than four years and is powered by Unreal Engine 5. Bandai Namco Entertainment publishes the game worldwide.

Several editions are available at launch. The standard release contains the full game, while the Eclipse Edition adds a digital world compendium, soundtrack and comic book. Physical Day One and Collector’s editions have also been produced, with the latter including additional collectibles and physical material tied to the game’s world.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Its launch begins what Rebel Wolves describes as a broader Dawnwalker saga, although Coen and Brencis’ immediate conflict is designed to reach its conclusion within this first game.
