GungHo Online Entertainment has announced B.L.U.E. NOVA, a new free-to-play cooperative PvE shooter scheduled to launch for PC through Steam in 2027. The game combines third-person shooting with large-scale battles that can grow from solo encounters into fights involving as many as 30 players. GungHo has opened an official website and Steam page alongside the announcement, although a more specific release date has not yet been provided.

B.L.U.E. NOVA is built around what GungHo calls the R.I.N.G. system, which allows players who encounter one another on the battlefield to temporarily connect and become significantly stronger. Joining a R.I.N.G. enables an “Infinite Barrage” state that removes the need to reload, while continuing to fight cooperatively strengthens the group and can eventually unlock a powerful Ultimate attack. The mechanic is intended to make meeting other players during a mission directly affect how much firepower the group can produce.

Its main mode, Tower Raid, supports battles with up to 30 participants in the same open battlefield. Players initially deploy alone before linking up with other heroes they encounter while moving toward the central objective. The group must fight through waves of machine enemies, destroy Barrier Towers positioned throughout the area and eventually attack a larger structure called the Master Tower at the center of the map.

GungHo is also putting significant emphasis on character customization. Players select from a roster of heroes with individual abilities and Ultimate moves, then combine those characters with customizable armor. Armor can be developed through skill trees and other progression systems, meaning two players using the same hero can still build substantially different combat setups depending on how they configure their equipment.

The story takes place in a future where humanity faces extinction after scientists predict that a massive solar eruption will devastate Earth by the year 2200. Humanity begins developing a new home on a planet called DIVAL, which closely resembles Earth, but the planetary-management AI known as EVE eventually rebels. EVE creates a mechanical army called Singula and takes control of the planet, leaving human mercenaries known as Heroes to fight back.

That conflict forms the backdrop for the large-scale PvE battles, with players working together against AI-controlled armies rather than competing against one another. GungHo describes the project as a cooperative “bullet barrage shooter,” suggesting combat is designed around overwhelming volumes of fire and large numbers of enemies rather than the slower tactical pacing found in many traditional third-person shooters. The R.I.N.G. system reinforces that structure by rewarding players for joining forces instead of remaining isolated.

B.L.U.E. NOVA is also connected to SNIVPA, a VTuber group that GungHo introduced in July 2026. The four SNIVPA members, Seraphy, Rico, Logi and JJ, have now been revealed as Heroes who appear inside the game rather than being a completely separate entertainment project. Their debut single, “Too Rich, Too Bold,” is being used as the theme music for B.L.U.E. NOVA’s teaser trailer, extending the project across both the game and GungHo’s wider media plans.

The game will also appear at Tokyo Game Show 2026, which runs from September 17 through September 21 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba. GungHo plans to show a special video at its booth and distribute limited B.L.U.E. NOVA and SNIVPA merchandise to attendees. The company has not announced whether a playable build will be available at the event.

B.L.U.E. NOVA is currently confirmed only for PC through Steam and will support English, Japanese and Simplified Chinese. GungHo lists the game as free-to-play with optional in-game purchases, while its age rating remains under review. With a broad 2027 release window in place, further details about its heroes, progression systems and 30-player Tower Raids are expected as development continues.
