Fortnite appears to be preparing an Override Series: Mega Man Cup, with newly surfaced in-game text revealing a Duos tournament and exclusive cosmetic rewards for top competitors. Dataminer FireMonkey uncovered the tournament description on September 7, including a separate challenge that rewards the “Override Buster Blast” Spray for scoring five eliminations with the Mega Buster. Epic Games has not yet formally announced the Cup or published its schedule.
The leaked description calls the event the “Override Series: Mega Man Cup” and directly tells players to “Duo up,” establishing the team format. It also says top competitors will earn exclusive Mega Man cosmetic rewards, although the surfaced text does not specify exactly which cosmetics are tied to leaderboard placement or how many teams in each region will qualify. Those details will likely require Epic’s official tournament rules before the reward structure can be confirmed.
One reward has been identified more clearly. Players who secure five eliminations with the Mega Buster during the competition can reportedly earn the Override Buster Blast Spray. That creates an additional objective beyond simply placing highly in the tournament, using Mega Man’s signature weapon as part of the Cup’s progression.
The Mega Buster is already part of Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4: Override, where it functions as one of the season’s gaming crossover weapons. Epic’s official Override material introduced Mega Man alongside franchises including Sonic the Hedgehog, Tetris, Persona, Kingdom Hearts and Crash Bandicoot. The Cup therefore appears designed around content that is already active in Battle Royale rather than introducing the weapon specifically for the tournament.
A Mega Man competition had already appeared in a leaked Fortnite roadmap covering this week’s Override events, but the newly surfaced tournament text adds substantially more detail. Earlier information established that a Mega Man-focused tournament was planned, while the latest files now identify the Override Series branding, Duos format, cosmetic rewards and the five-elimination Spray objective.
The leak arrives as Fortnite’s wider Mega Man collaboration moves closer to its expected Item Shop release. Encrypted files had previously indicated a larger cosmetic set containing multiple outfits, accessories and the Rush Sidekick, while additional material has since begun decrypting. Epic has confirmed Mega Man’s presence in Override, but individual Item Shop cosmetics and tournament details have largely surfaced through datamining ahead of their formal rollout.
More recent teaser material has also shown Zero, providing a clearer picture of at least part of the collaboration’s character lineup. The Mega Man teaser featuring Zero followed earlier encrypted-file discoveries suggesting three playable skins were included in the crossover. However, the tournament text itself does not identify which outfits are offered as competitive rewards, so it should not yet be assumed that Mega Man, Zero or any other specific skin can be won through the Cup.
The Override Series branding also suggests the event is part of Fortnite’s broader run of crossover tournaments during Chapter 7 Season 4. Similar Cups can give players an opportunity to earn themed cosmetics through competition before or around their Item Shop debut, but reward thresholds and eligibility rules can vary by region. Epic’s eventual rules page should clarify scoring, session length, account requirements and placement thresholds if the Mega Man Cup proceeds as indicated by the files.
No confirmed date or start time appears in the newly surfaced tournament description. That distinction matters because the event text being present in Fortnite’s files shows that Epic has prepared content for the competition, but scheduling can still change before activation. The previously leaked roadmap places Mega Man activity during this part of September, yet players should wait for an in-game Compete tab listing or an official Epic announcement for the final timing.
For now, the datamine establishes a substantially clearer outline of the planned event: the Override Series: Mega Man Cup is designed for Duos, top competitors can earn exclusive Mega Man cosmetics, and five Mega Buster eliminations award the Override Buster Blast Spray. Epic Games has not officially announced the tournament, its date or the complete reward thresholds.
