Newly surfaced Fortnite Mega Man Cup imagery appears to identify X as one of the competition’s rewards, adding another major detail to the still-unannounced tournament. Fortnite leaker SpushFNBR shared the image on September 7 and noted that X is prominently featured alongside a pickaxe resembling the Spinning Blade from Mega Man X3. Epic Games has not yet officially announced the Cup or confirmed that either cosmetic will be awarded to competitors.
The image builds on earlier Mega Man Cup files that revealed the Override Series: Mega Man Cup as a Duos competition. Those files stated that top competitors would earn exclusive Mega Man cosmetics and separately identified an Override Buster Blast Spray for players who score five eliminations with the Mega Buster. What they did not reveal was exactly which cosmetics would be tied to leaderboard placement.
X now appears to be the strongest candidate. The newly surfaced Cup artwork reportedly places the Mega Man X protagonist prominently within the tournament presentation, leading SpushFNBR to suggest that the character will be available as a competitive reward. However, tournament promotional art does not necessarily guarantee that every character pictured is obtainable through placement, so X should not yet be treated as a confirmed prize until Epic publishes the rules or reward thresholds.
The accompanying pickaxe provides another clue. Its design appears to reference the Spinning Blade, a special weapon used by X in Mega Man X3 after defeating Crush Crawfish. In that game, the weapon fires spinning blade projectiles that travel outward before curving back, while its charged form produces a much larger blade. The visual connection strengthens the case that the cosmetic shown alongside X is specifically themed around the Mega Man X branch of the franchise.
This also helps clarify the wider Fortnite crossover lineup. Earlier encrypted-file data suggested that the Mega Man collaboration contains three playable skins, but only Mega Man himself had initially been identified with confidence. More recent promotional material then showed Zero, substantially narrowing the possibilities for the remaining characters.
That Zero teaser already suggested that Mega Man X would play a larger role in Fortnite’s interpretation of the franchise than earlier leaks made clear. X appearing in the Cup imagery would further support that direction, potentially leaving Mega Man, X and Zero as the three characters connected to the encrypted cosmetic set. Even so, Epic has not formally published the full three-skin lineup, so that combination remains based on leaked and promotional material rather than a complete official reveal.
Fortnite’s Chapter 7 Season 4: Override already features the Mega Buster as part of its broader gaming crossover content. Mega Man was confirmed alongside franchises including Sonic the Hedgehog, Persona, Kingdom Hearts, Crash Bandicoot and Tetris when Epic unveiled the season. The Cup appears to extend that crossover into Fortnite’s competitive calendar by combining standard placement rewards with a weapon-specific challenge.
A previously leaked weekly roadmap had already indicated that a Mega Man tournament was planned during this section of September. The later tournament text established the Duos format and exclusive cosmetics, while the latest imagery now appears to offer the first indication of what one of those high-placement rewards could actually be. No confirmed tournament date, regional placement threshold or eligibility requirement has yet been published by Epic.
Until the official rules page appears, the safest interpretation is that X and a Spinning Blade-inspired pickaxe are strongly suggested by the newly surfaced Mega Man Cup artwork but are not yet confirmed tournament rewards. The underlying files establish that exclusive Mega Man cosmetics are planned for top competitors and that the Override Buster Blast Spray is tied to five Mega Buster eliminations. Epic Games still needs to confirm the complete reward structure, Cup schedule and exact placement requirements.
