Chronoscript: The Endless End has been delayed from its previously announced fall 2026 release window to early summer 2027. Publisher Shueisha Games and developer DeskWorks are using the additional development time to polish the exploration-focused action adventure following feedback from its playable demo. The game remains planned for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam.

DeskWorks director Tom Fujii said the main game is already playable from beginning to end, but the team wants more time to refine the overall experience before release. According to the developer, feedback collected from players who tried the demo has been especially useful in identifying areas that could be improved. That means the delay appears to be focused on polish and responsiveness rather than completing major unfinished portions of the game.

Several specific changes are already being worked on. Character actions are being adjusted with faster attack recovery, improved input buffering, greater movement during attacks and quicker healing, while turning will receive refined sliding behaviour. DeskWorks is also improving text and character visibility, adjusting menu design and making additional gameplay and usability refinements throughout the game.

The revised launch window represents a substantial shift from Shueisha Games’ previous plans. The publisher officially announced in June that Chronoscript would release in fall 2026, narrowing an earlier general 2026 window that had been attached to the game since its reveal. Moving to early summer 2027 therefore pushes the project back by several months rather than simply moving it within the same season.

Chronoscript: The Endless End is an exploration-based action adventure built around two visually different worlds. Players control an editor named Frederic G. Müller, who becomes trapped inside the manuscript of a story that has continued for a thousand years. The game moves between a 3D manor and hand-drawn 2D manuscript environments, with exploration inside the pages forming the bulk of its combat and platforming.

DeskWorks has gradually revealed more of those manuscript environments throughout 2026. An Age of Exploration-themed stage was shown earlier in the year, followed by an ancient Egypt area in the game’s prologue trailer. The project also features 3D character designs by Mari Shimazaki, while Yasunori Mitsuda and other Procyon Studio composers are contributing to its music and sound.

The Steam demo released in August gave players their first opportunity to experience the game directly. That public test now appears to have played an important role in shaping the additional work being undertaken before launch, particularly around combat responsiveness and readability. Rather than simply announcing a delay without explanation, DeskWorks has outlined several concrete areas it intends to improve during the extended development period.

Chronoscript joins several games that have recently moved out of their original 2026 windows. No Rest for the Wicked’s 1.0 release was delayed to March 2027, while other publishers are also filling out an increasingly busy 2027 calendar. Shueisha Games itself has CONQUISTA : Tide of Wills scheduled for summer 2027, although the two games target very different audiences.

No exact release date has been announced for Chronoscript beyond the new early summer 2027 window. Pricing also remains unconfirmed. For now, DeskWorks’ comments indicate that the core game is content-complete enough to be played from start to finish, with the coming months devoted primarily to making combat, movement, menus and general usability feel more polished before players enter its manuscript world.
