Ghost Town Games has confirmed that Stage Fright will launch in spring 2027 for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch and PC. The two-player cooperative puzzle adventure reappeared during Nintendo’s September 9 Direct with its first substantial gameplay showcase, giving a clearer look at the project from the developers behind Overcooked. Hello Games is publishing the game.

Stage Fright is built specifically around two-player cooperation, with both local and online play supported. Players work together to explore environments, solve escape-room-style puzzles and overcome obstacles while unraveling a mystery surrounding a missing friend. Nintendo has also confirmed GameShare support, allowing compatible Nintendo players to experience local co-op using separate systems.

Rather than reproducing Overcooked’s time-pressure cooking structure, Ghost Town Games is using its cooperative design experience for a longer-form adventure. The developer says Stage Fright still includes chaotic moments reminiscent of Overcooked, but the emphasis shifts toward communication, problem solving and figuring out environmental puzzles together. Ghost Town Games describes the challenge as being focused more on players’ thinking and teamwork than demanding mechanical execution.

The story follows three young characters named Drew, Blake and Charlie. Players control different combinations of the trio as the narrative unfolds from multiple perspectives, with the group exploring a strange town while attempting to understand what has happened there. Ghost Town Games has described Stage Fright as a coming-of-age story with influences including The Goonies and Stranger Things, while also pointing to Luigi’s Mansion as a game that helped inspire its tone.

The September Nintendo Direct footage provided a much clearer view of how that concept works in practice. Players were shown moving through theatrical and supernatural environments, interacting with mechanisms and coordinating actions that require both participants to contribute. The presentation also reinforced that Stage Fright is not structured as a conventional horror game, instead mixing spooky imagery and mystery with the colorful, accessible presentation associated with Ghost Town Games’ earlier work.

Stage Fright was originally announced at The Game Awards in December 2024. At the time, Hello Games revealed that it would publish the project while Ghost Town Games continued development, marking the studio’s first new game following the success of the Overcooked series. The initial announcement established the cooperative premise but left the release timing and console platforms unconfirmed.

Ghost Town Games has since expanded beyond the extremely small development setup that produced the first Overcooked. Studio founders Phil Duncan and Oli De-Vine said the team has brought in additional developers to help create the larger adventure, while retaining the emphasis on accessible cooperative play that defined their earlier games. The developers have also stressed that they wanted Stage Fright to remain approachable for a broad range of players rather than increasing complexity simply because the new project is larger.

The Nintendo versions now give Stage Fright a particularly natural home for its local multiplayer focus. Both Nintendo Switch 2 and the original Switch are confirmed, meaning Ghost Town Games is not restricting the game to Nintendo’s newer hardware. On Switch 2, GameShare adds another option for players who want to work through the adventure together without necessarily sharing one display.

The PC version remains listed on Steam, where Ghost Town Games confirms online co-op as well as shared and split-screen cooperative play. The Steam listing currently describes Stage Fright as an action-adventure built entirely around two-player cooperation, with escape rooms, obstacles and an overarching mystery forming its central structure. No PlayStation or Xbox versions have been announced.

Stage Fright is scheduled to launch in spring 2027 for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch and PC. A specific release date and pricing have not yet been announced, but the latest reveal establishes the game’s launch window, Nintendo platforms and a much clearer picture of how Ghost Town Games is translating its cooperative design philosophy beyond Overcooked.
