Imagineer has announced Fit Boxing Touken Ranbu: Shutsujin! Exercise Honmaru, a new crossover between its boxing fitness series and Touken Ranbu Online. The game launches in Japan on January 15, 2027 for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch, following its reveal during the September 9 Nintendo Direct. An international release has not yet been announced.
The new game turns six Touken Danshi into dedicated fitness instructors who guide players through boxing-based exercise routines. The lineup consists of Mikazuki Munechika, Ookanehira, Shokudaikiri Mitsutada, Heshikiri Hasebe, Yamanbagiri Chougi and Unshou, with each character using newly recorded dialogue. Imagineer says all dialogue featured in the game has been recorded specifically for this release.
Like previous Fitness Boxing games, players exercise by holding a Joy-Con or Joy-Con 2 in each hand and throwing punches in time with on-screen instructions. Workouts can be customized according to available time and fitness needs, ranging from shorter sessions to longer routines. Tutorials and demonstrations from the six Touken Danshi are also included for players unfamiliar with the series.

One of the crossover-specific features is called Nitou Kenbu, which allows two Touken Danshi to be selected as instructors for any exercise menu. The pair can interact with one another during intervals, giving players additional character dialogue while they train. That expands the usual single-instructor format and lets players combine their preferred characters during workouts.
Regular exercise also increases a character relationship system referred to as the Musubi level. As players continue training, additional conversations become available and new episodes set around the Exercise Honmaru are unlocked. The structure gives progression beyond fitness statistics, using Touken Ranbu’s characters and setting as an incentive to keep returning to workouts.
The game also includes Saniwa Health Exercises as a dedicated stretching mode. The routine originates from Touken Ranbu Online and can be used for preparation before a workout or as a cooldown afterward. Daily exercise can additionally be tracked through a calendar, with players receiving a stamp after completing a workout and exchanging a fist bump with their instructor.
Its premise places the crossover directly within Touken Ranbu’s world. Mikazuki Munechika discovers Fit Boxing at a Honmaru and introduces the exercise method as a way to keep the Saniwa healthy alongside the Touken Danshi’s usual task of defending history. The resulting setup lets the characters retain their established personalities while functioning as fitness instructors.
Imagineer previously connected the two properties through downloadable content for Fitness Boxing 2: Rhythm & Exercise. A Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru music pack was released for that game in Japan, but Shutsujin! Exercise Honmaru is a much larger collaboration built entirely around the franchise rather than a music add-on.
The Switch and Switch 2 editions contain the same gameplay content, although Imagineer says the Switch 2 version benefits from improved graphics. The two editions are treated separately, and save data cannot be transferred between them. The game supports one or two players and is priced at 7,678 yen for the standard version in Japan.
A limited edition priced at 18,800 yen is also planned. It includes the game alongside an Exercise Honmaru materials collection, an original drama CD covering the instructors before the events of the game, an acrylic stand featuring all six characters, a face towel, six interchangeable jacket sheets and a special box.
Fit Boxing Touken Ranbu: Shutsujin! Exercise Honmaru launches for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch in Japan on January 15, 2027. With paired instructors, relationship-based episode unlocks, fully recorded character dialogue and Touken Ranbu-specific stretching content, the collaboration goes considerably further than the franchise’s earlier appearance in Fitness Boxing 2.
