Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember will launch worldwide on March 4, 2027, giving Team NINJA’s dark Three Kingdoms action RPG a firm date after previously carrying an early 2027 window. Producer Masakazu Hirayama confirmed the date through PlayStation Blog alongside the release of a limited-time Alpha Demo, which is available now through September 30. Pre-orders have also opened ahead of next year’s launch.
The Alpha Demo lets players experience part of the Changban stage and offers an early look at how Team NINJA is expanding the combat introduced in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. Deflect returns as a central defensive mechanic, allowing incoming attacks to be nullified and redirected, while a broader selection of Martial Arts techniques and weapons gives players additional offensive options. The sequel also introduces Insight Skills, which can counter attacks, launch enemies into walls or punish opponents attacking from above.
Changban is part of a wider move toward more open battlefields in the sequel. Team NINJA says locations such as Changban and the Red Cliffs will be presented as expansive fields containing enemy strongholds, demonic lairs and multiple possible approaches. Players can flank enemy formations, capture bases, lay traps or recruit enemy generals, giving battles a stronger strategic layer alongside the series’ fast-paced melee combat.

The Alpha Demo also includes character creation and multiplayer co-op, both of which will return in the full game. Players who defeat the demo boss Wuzhiqi will receive the Fledgling Phoenix Helmet for use in the finished release. Team NINJA is additionally collecting feedback through a survey, with Hirayama saying responses from the demo will help shape development before launch.
Wo Long 2 continues the series’ dark-fantasy interpretation of the Three Kingdoms era rather than presenting a strictly historical retelling. The story again mixes famous warriors from the period with demons and supernatural elements inspired by Chinese literature, while the pursuit of the immortality-granting elixir remains part of the setting. Characters from Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will return, although Team NINJA says the new story is being designed so players can start with the sequel without having played the original.
The sequel was first announced during the Xbox Games Showcase in June, when Koei Tecmo and Team NINJA confirmed an early 2027 launch window. Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty has surpassed five million players worldwide, and Wings of Ember is positioned as an evolution of its offensive and defensive Chinese martial arts combat rather than a complete mechanical reset. The returning Morale system will once again influence the balance of encounters across the battlefield.
Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember is confirmed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox on PC and Steam. Xbox Cloud Gaming is also listed on the official site, while the game will be available through Xbox Game Pass on day one. The PlayStation Store lists the PS5 version as supporting up to three online players and confirms PS5 Pro enhancements.
Pre-orders are now available, with the digital version including the Creator Goddess Garb set as a pre-order bonus. A Digital Deluxe Edition will bundle the game with a Season Pass, digital mini soundtrack and digital mini art book. Koei Tecmo has not yet detailed the content included in the Season Pass.
The March 4 date now gives Wo Long 2 a little under six months between the Alpha Demo and its full launch. Players interested in trying the sequel early can access the limited build until September 30, after which the demo will no longer be available. Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember then launches worldwide on March 4, 2027 across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC.
