Neverness to Everness version 1.4, titled For Whom the Verses Mourn, will launch on September 30. Publisher Perfect World Games and developer Hotta Studio confirmed the date during the update’s preview program on September 16, revealing a substantial content drop built around a new area, story chapters, playable characters, vehicles and limited-time activities.

Version 1.4 will introduce a new main episode called The Witch alongside the spinoff storyline To Us, Back Then. Players will also gain access to Pukaland, a new location within Neverness to Everness’ supernatural open world, while St. Arbor joins the game as a new Location Anomaly. The update continues the game’s broader focus on exploring Hethereau and its surrounding anomalies while expanding the playable spaces available to Appraisers.

Two new characters, Blackbird and Akane Rin, headline the roster additions. Both will receive dedicated character interactions as well as multiple outfits, while their arrival will be supported by new Limited Boards. Blackbird’s board is titled Foretold Finale, Akane Rin’s is Dazzling Star, and Lacrimosa will also receive a Fading Reverie board during the update period.

Hotta Studio is keeping the shared pity structure introduced for Limited Boards, meaning S-class character pity, Points Gift progress and Board Modification progress carry across the relevant banners. Skin Perks are tracked separately, although progress can carry between boards sharing the same name. The update will also add several new outfits for existing characters, including cosmetics for Haniel, Sakiri and Baicang through the City Tycoon progression system.

Version 1.4 also expands Neverness to Everness’ vehicle lineup through a collaboration with Porsche. The Porsche 911 Turbo (930) and Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package will be added as new vehicles obtainable through Mystery Boxes. A Porsche Club activity will accompany them, including the classic Salzburg livery as well as themed furniture, a namecard, phone case, wallpaper and title.

Several new Anomaly Commissions are planned, including Night of the Last Bus and Lilliput in the Looking Glass. Hotta Studio is also continuing its rotating event structure throughout October, with activities spread across the weeks following the September 30 update. The new City Tycoon: Puka Membership Program will provide a longer progression track containing cosmetics, accessories, dice skins and S-class standard character and Arc selection boxes.

Quality-of-life improvements are arriving alongside the larger content additions. Volley Star will gain multiplayer support, while Drone Mode in Photo Mode will receive a follow-camera option. The Friends interface will begin recommending players to add, and Bond Gifts will gain a one-tap option that can quickly redeem or purchase a Handwritten Letter to maximize bond levels.

The update will also expand Going, Going, Gone! with new collectibles and Blackbird appearing as an Auction Assistant. Character unlock animations will become replayable from the character interface simply by remaining on a character’s page. These changes are smaller than the new story and map content, but they continue Hotta Studio’s effort to refine the game’s social, collection and presentation systems between major updates.

For Whom the Verses Mourn follows version 1.3, Rising from the Moonlight Fog, which launched in August with its own story, characters and explorable content. The September 30 release therefore maintains Neverness to Everness’ rapid post-launch update schedule, with major numbered versions arriving only weeks apart.

Neverness to Everness is currently available as a free-to-play game on PlayStation 5, PC through its standalone client, Steam and Epic Games Store, as well as iOS and Android. Version 1.4: For Whom the Verses Mourn launches across the game on September 30.
