ZA/UM has announced a substantial Director’s Cut update for ZERO PARADES: For Dead Spies alongside a November 3 release date for the PlayStation 5 version. Existing PC owners will receive the Director’s Cut as a free update earlier, on October 1, while the PS5 release will include the expanded version when it arrives the following month. The studio describes the new material as extensive enough to make the experience feel noticeably different from the original release.

The Director’s Cut adds roughly 40,000 words of new and revised material, led by a new Dramatic Encounter called the Quisach Roundabout. The sequence follows protagonist Hershel Wilk and her old friend Ramses after the pair find themselves driving a hijacked tuk-tuk around the same roundabout late at night while heavily intoxicated. Their apparently simple objective of finding the correct exit can escalate into something considerably stranger and potentially fatal.

ZA/UM is also introducing a new feature called Backstage, which allows players to explore earlier versions of selected areas from the game. These spaces are intended to show how locations evolved during production and provide a closer look at some of the technical and creative decisions made during development. Interactive objects will contain audio stories and developer commentary narrated by art director Kaspar Tamsalu, including information about ideas and material that were ultimately cut.

The update extends beyond additional story content. ZERO PARADES will receive re-recorded English voice work, new outfits and clothing, additional death screens and revisions to existing material. Quality-of-life additions include ultrawide monitor support, controller remapping, improved inventory sorting and a Photosensitivity Mode designed to make some of the game’s presentation more accessible.

The Director’s Cut is being positioned as the definitive version of ZERO PARADES and also marks the end of the planned post-launch update cycle for the PC release. ZA/UM launched the espionage RPG on PC through Steam, Epic Games Store and GOG on May 21, 2026. The PlayStation 5 edition had already been announced for later in the year, but November 3 is the first specific release date attached to the console version.

ZERO PARADES follows Hershel Wilk, codenamed Cascade, an intelligence operative sent on another assignment five years after a previous mission destroyed her network. The game takes place in Portofiro, where Hershel becomes caught between competing political and intelligence interests while attempting to rebuild connections and uncover information. Its role-playing systems emphasize dialogue, psychological pressure, dice-driven outcomes and adapting to failure rather than conventional combat.

The project is ZA/UM’s first major RPG following Disco Elysium, although it features a different setting, cast and espionage-focused premise. ZERO PARADES retains a narrative-heavy structure built around skill checks and branching consequences, while systems such as Pressures and Exertion let players push Hershel’s physical and psychological state for advantages that can create additional risks. Dramatic Encounters serve as some of the game’s more elaborate narrative sequences, making the new Quisach Roundabout chapter one of the Director’s Cut’s most significant additions.

ZA/UM has not announced Xbox Series X|S or Nintendo Switch 2 versions. The currently confirmed console release remains PlayStation 5, with the expanded Director’s Cut content included from launch.

PC players will therefore get the new material first when the free Director’s Cut update arrives on October 1. ZERO PARADES: For Dead Spies then launches on PS5 on November 3 with the Director’s Cut additions already incorporated, bringing the RPG to consoles nearly six months after its original PC debut.
