The Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake has been one of Ubisoft’s most talked-about projects in recent years, marked by delays, studio shifts, and a complete development overhaul. Fans have followed every update closely, hoping for signs that the beloved classic is finally nearing the finish line.

Now, new information has surfaced—hinting that the long wait may soon pay off.

According to a new Prince of Persia Remake update, Ubisoft is now preparing the long-awaited Sands of Time revival for a mid-January 2026 release window. Insider sources suggest that the next major reveal is expected at The Game Awards 2025, where the official date will likely be confirmed.

This marks the most concrete timeline the project has had in years following its turbulent development history.

Importance: The Prince of Persia Remake update marks a turning point for Ubisoft, showing renewed commitment to reviving classic franchises with modern quality and setting an example for future legacy game remakes.

    Work Restarted From Scratch

The latest Prince of Persia Remake update outlines how the project reached this point after multiple delays and a complete production reset.

Initially announced in 2020 with plans to launch in early 2021, the remake faced repeated setbacks and eventually shifted development entirely to Ubisoft Montreal in 2022, where work restarted from scratch using a more realistic visual direction, new animations, and refreshed combat and parkour systems.

    Ubisoft Toronto Joins Development

Two years later, Ubisoft Toronto joined the effort, strengthening the team as the game moved toward its now-targeted 2026 release.

These behind-the-scenes changes have shaped the remake into a much more ambitious reimagining than originally planned.
