Lollipop Chainsaw 2: Back2Back has been announced for PlayStation 5, giving a name and platform to the new Lollipop Chainsaw project Dragami Games had been teasing ahead of Tokyo Game Show 2026. Gematsu reports that the sequel has now been formally revealed under the Back2Back subtitle. A release date has not yet been announced.

The reveal follows Dragami Games’ September 3 confirmation that a completely new Lollipop Chainsaw game would make its world debut at Tokyo Game Show 2026. At the time, the company deliberately stopped short of revealing the project’s title, platforms or broader gameplay details, referring to it only as a new entry in the series. The new announcement establishes that the project is a numbered sequel rather than another remaster or expanded edition of Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP.

Dragami Games previously confirmed that the new title is being developed by JP UNIVERSE, the studio founded in 2022 by former Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata. NADA HOLDINGS is organizing the project under license from Dragami Games, while Dragami is supervising and cooperating on development. Sega is also serving as the distribution partner for Japan and parts of Southeast Asia.

The game is scheduled to be playable publicly at Tokyo Game Show 2026, where four demo stations will be installed inside the Sega and Atlus booth’s Sega Partners area. Dragami Games has described the TGS appearance as the world’s first hands-on opportunity for the new Lollipop Chainsaw title. Players who try the demo will receive a promotional keychain, while visitors to the booth can also obtain a logo sticker while supplies last.

More information is expected during two dedicated “Lollipop Chainsaw NEW PROJECT” presentations at TGS. The first is scheduled for September 18 on Sega’s event stage, followed by a longer presentation on the Tokyo Game Show main stage on September 19. Producers and members of the development team are expected to discuss the new game, with official series ambassador and cosplayer PeachMilky also appearing as Juliet.

Lollipop Chainsaw 2: Back2Back continues a franchise that began with the original Lollipop Chainsaw in 2012. The action game followed zombie hunter and cheerleader Juliet Starling as she fought through an outbreak using a chainsaw, combining hack-and-slash combat with exaggerated humor, American pop-culture influences and B-movie horror. The original was developed by Grasshopper Manufacture and became one of the studio’s better-known releases from that era.

The franchise returned in 2024 with Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, a modernized version developed and published by Dragami Games. RePOP retained the original story and overall structure while adding technical improvements, revised gameplay options and updated presentation. It later expanded to additional platforms, including a Nintendo Switch 2 edition released in May 2026.

Dragami Games said in June that the wider Lollipop Chainsaw series had passed 1.5 million cumulative sales, while RePOP itself had exceeded 400,000 copies. The company had already signaled plans to expand the property beyond the remaster, previously announcing both a completely new game project and an anime initiative. Back2Back now gives the game side of that expansion a concrete identity.

For the moment, PlayStation 5 is the only platform specifically attached to Lollipop Chainsaw 2: Back2Back in the new announcement. Dragami Games has not yet confirmed whether the sequel will also come to Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 or PC, so additional versions should not be assumed until formally announced.

More details about Back2Back are likely to emerge during Tokyo Game Show 2026 as the public demo and developer presentations begin. The announcement nevertheless marks the first confirmation that Juliet’s next major game is a full sequel, rather than another update to RePOP, with Lollipop Chainsaw 2: Back2Back now officially tied to PS5.
