Rockstar Games has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI will feature what it calls the “next evolution of in-game radio,” offering the first explicit tease of how one of the series’ most recognizable systems will change in the upcoming game. The wording appeared in Rockstar’s September 17 announcement for Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, where the company said more details about the game’s dynamic score, in-game radio and wider musical features will be shared closer to launch. Rockstar has not yet explained exactly what the new radio system will do differently.
The announcement came alongside confirmation of Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, a 34-track collection of original music being released in partnership with Atlantic Records. The album launches on November 19, the same day as GTA VI, with six songs already available on streaming platforms. Its lineup includes music from Yung Lean with Future and Metro Boomin, Travis Scott, CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso with PinkPantheress, Fred again.. and Etienne de Crécy, Morgan Wallen, Rauw Alejandro and Keith Richards.
Rockstar’s wording is careful not to say that all 34 album tracks will appear on the game’s radio stations. Instead, the studio separates the album from the broader music experience and says additional details are coming for the dynamic score, the “next evolution” of radio and other musical elements. That distinction matters because the 34-track GTA VI album is a confirmed standalone release, while the full in-game station lineup remains undisclosed.

Radio has been a major part of Grand Theft Auto’s identity for decades, blending licensed music with fictional DJs, advertisements, news segments and satirical talk shows. GTA V expanded the concept further through multiple stations spanning hip-hop, rock, electronic music, pop, country and other genres, with GTA Online later adding more stations and tracks over time. Rockstar’s new description suggests GTA VI will continue developing that system, but the company has not yet detailed whether the changes relate to station structure, personalization, presentation, interactivity or something else entirely.
The music reveal also follows an unusually visible marketing push around GTA VI’s soundtrack. Spotify-branded GTA VI billboards appeared across major US cities shortly before Rockstar’s announcement, while several musicians shared coordinated imagery connected to the game. Those teasers led to speculation about how Spotify and individual artists might be involved, though Rockstar has not announced any direct Spotify integration inside GTA VI.
The newly announced album does, however, establish that Rockstar is treating music as a major part of GTA VI’s launch campaign. Atlantic Records describes the project as accompanying a broader evolution of the series’ radio stations, dynamic score and other musical touchpoints. Physical versions will also be available at launch, including vinyl and CD editions with several retailer-specific designs and special pressings.
Rockstar’s official GTA VI website currently lists the game for November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The game follows Jason and Lucia across Vice City and the wider state of Leonida after what begins as an easy score pulls them into a larger criminal conspiracy. Rockstar has already released an extended gameplay-focused look at the game and opened pre-orders ahead of launch.
For now, “next evolution” remains a description rather than a detailed feature reveal. Rockstar has not named any GTA VI radio stations, published complete station tracklists or explained how the system will differ mechanically from GTA V and GTA Online. With the company explicitly promising more information before launch, the radio and dynamic score now stand as two of the remaining major pieces of GTA VI that have yet to be fully detailed.
