A roughly 192GB archive of Rockstar Games development data has begun circulating publicly, exposing previously unseen material from Grand Theft Auto V alongside early Grand Theft Auto VI assets. The files are not believed to come from a new security breach. Insider Gaming reports that the archive originated from Rockstar’s 2022 intrusion, with the material having circulated privately among a limited group before spreading more widely this week.

Much of what has surfaced so far concerns abandoned or unfinished GTA V content rather than the version of GTA VI scheduled for release in November. Researchers examining the archive have uncovered material connected to a cancelled Liberty City expansion, scrapped Agent Trevor content, beta vehicles, unused dialogue and development files. Early GTA VI material is also present, including low-quality map renders and assets reportedly associated with areas such as Vice City International Airport.

One of the more substantial discoveries concerns Rockstar’s abandoned plans for Liberty City. Files examined by GTA community researcher TJGM include references to a Liberty City project and development material suggesting the planned expansion was significantly larger than previously understood. Other discoveries point to environments and mission content associated with GTA V’s long-rumored Agent Trevor single-player DLC, offering a rare look at how far some cancelled projects progressed internally before Rockstar moved away from them.

Additional cut GTA V material includes an alternate version of Trevor’s death sequence. According to material extracted from the archive, an early version of the game’s Option A ending would have involved Trevor crashing into liquid nitrogen, freezing and ultimately shattering rather than dying in the oil-tanker sequence used in the finished game. Unused dialogue involving GTA IV character Brucie Kibbutz and Franklin has also reportedly been found, alongside other unfinished missions, vehicles and interiors.

The GTA VI material requires considerably more caution. The assets appear to represent very early development work dating back years and should not be treated as evidence of the final game’s content, map layout or current design. Some early map imagery reportedly resembles locations later seen in official GTA VI material, but development assets from this period can change dramatically before release. Take-Two has separately confirmed that GTA VI will launch as a single-player game on November 19 while Rockstar continues supporting GTA Online.

The archive appears to be connected to the same September 2022 intrusion that resulted in approximately 90 GTA VI development videos appearing online. Rockstar publicly confirmed at the time that an unauthorized third party had accessed and downloaded confidential information from its systems, including early footage from the next Grand Theft Auto. Take-Two later referenced the incident in regulatory filings, confirming that the breach involved confidential Rockstar information and early GTA development footage.

Parts of GTA V’s source code had already surfaced publicly in late 2023, but the newly circulating archive is substantially larger and appears to contain a broader collection of development resources. Insider Gaming reports that the underlying files had been available privately since the original breach before gradually reaching a wider group of people. That distinction makes the current event a new public dissemination of older stolen material rather than evidence that Rockstar has suffered another intrusion in 2026.

The emergence of unfinished development assets also presents an unusually detailed look at how Rockstar experiments with ideas that never reach players. Similar discoveries elsewhere in the industry can preserve early designs long after projects change or disappear entirely, as demonstrated when early Fortnite development footage from 2012 surfaced online years after the game had transformed into something very different. In Rockstar’s case, the sheer size of the archive means researchers are likely to continue identifying previously unknown GTA V concepts and early GTA VI material as the files are examined.

Rockstar Games has not publicly authenticated the newly circulating 192GB archive or commented on individual discoveries from it. Because the material consists of stolen development data that may be incomplete, outdated or experimental, individual findings should not be interpreted as confirmation of planned GTA VI features or future Rockstar releases.
