Embark Studios will give players their first detailed look at ARC Raiders’ Frozen Trail update on September 23 at 10 AM PT. The presentation will premiere through the official ARC Raiders YouTube channel, a little over two weeks before Frozen Trail launches on October 8. Embark has repeatedly described the update as the largest major content drop released for ARC Raiders since launch.
Frozen Trail was first outlined in May when Embark announced it was moving away from monthly content drops in favor of two larger major updates each year. The studio said the previous cadence limited how transformative individual releases could be and that the additional development time would allow it to make broader changes to progression, balance, anti-cheat systems and the game’s long-term structure. Frozen Trail is the first major release built around that revised strategy.
The update will add ARC Raiders’ largest map so far, taking players to a new frozen region of the Rust Belt. Embark has described the location as a settlement beneath towering mountains, with the environment intended to provide new routes, mysteries and challenges rather than simply reskinning an existing map. The September 23 presentation is expected to provide the first substantial look at how the area actually plays.

Frozen Trail will also introduce what Embark calls its most ambitious ARC Operation to date. The studio has teased new ARC enemies with different behaviors and designs, including a much larger machine that appears to play a central role in the new content. Embark has also said the update will begin exploring the origins of ARC, expanding the game’s wider mystery alongside the new combat encounters.
Progression is another major focus. Embark previously acknowledged that many experienced players had reached the Raider Den and Skill Point ceilings, leaving fewer meaningful long-term goals. Frozen Trail will introduce new progression systems, revise the Skill Tree and expand the Raider Den through a new area called the Outpost, which players will be able to personalize while researching more of the game’s world.
The studio is also preparing new weapons, gadgets, items, instruments and cosmetics for the update, while continuing work on matchmaking, stability, anti-cheat measures and other quality-of-life improvements. Embark has stressed that Frozen Trail is intended to refine existing systems as well as add content, with nearly every part of the game benefiting from lessons learned since launch.
One area that will not be central to the October update is Expeditions. Embark has paused the system until early 2027 while it considers substantial changes, and the studio has said it could even ARC Raiders’ Expedition system be scrapped entirely if the redesigned approach does not justify keeping it. Existing bonuses will remain while Embark evaluates how the mechanic should fit into the game longer term.
The September 23 showcase should therefore provide the clearest picture yet of what Embark means by treating Frozen Trail as a major structural update rather than a standard seasonal content drop. The studio has spent much of 2026 positioning the release as a turning point for ARC Raiders’ live-service model, with bigger updates arriving less frequently but carrying more significant gameplay and progression changes.
ARC Raiders: Frozen Trail launches on October 8. The first-look presentation on September 23 will reveal more of the new map, ARC threats, progression systems and other additions planned for the update.
