Devolver Digital and developer Kenny Sun and Friends have announced BALL x PIT: Risen Ballbylon, a paid expansion launching November 12 for $6.99. The expansion sends players upward into the remnants of Ballbylon rather than deeper into the pit, introducing four new battlefields, more than 40 enemies, eight playable characters and substantial additions to the game’s ball-fusing and settlement-building systems. Risen Ballbylon will be available across all platforms that currently support BALL x PIT.

Access to the expansion is designed for players who have already completed the base game. Risen Ballbylon takes place in a version of the former city now floating above the abyss, with each new battlefield representing a different layer of Ballbylon transformed by the meteor that originally destroyed it. Each area will feature its own boss alongside new enemy types, making the expansion a continuation of the game’s progression rather than a separate entry point for new players.

Combat options are expanding with 24 additional balls and 45 new passive items. Among the new balls is Beast, which attaches itself to an enemy and continues dealing damage until the target dies, while Kaiju triggers earthquakes, Misfortune inflicts curses and Hedgehog adds a spiked offensive option. New passives include Lucky Coin, Eldritch Gauntlet, Vampire’s Kiss, Volatile Explosive and Relentless Whip, adding another layer of potential combinations to the game’s existing fusion-heavy build system.

Eight new heroes will also change how individual runs function. The Sentinel can aim in any direction rather than operating under the usual restrictions, while The Stonewaller causes balls to warp to the opposite side of the playfield the first time they strike a wall. The Right Hand Man takes a more asymmetric approach, doubling damage when balls hit the right wall while cutting their damage in half when they collide with the left.

Risen Ballbylon also expands the settlement side of the game with 20 new buildings. Confirmed structures include the Floating Fortress, Crystal Monolith, Soup Kitchen, Circus Tent and Fission Chamber, alongside other additions intended to broaden New Ballbylon’s development options. The expansion introduces crystals as a new mineable resource, adding another economic system for players to manage while progressing through its new areas.

The paid expansion follows a year of free post-launch support for BALL x PIT. Devolver Digital announced in late 2025 that the game would receive three free content updates throughout 2026, subsequently expanding its roster, balls, passives, buildings and game modes. Risen Ballbylon is positioned as a larger step beyond those updates, with Devolver describing it as the game’s biggest and most transformative expansion so far.

BALL x PIT originally launched on October 15, 2025 and combines brick-breaking combat with roguelite progression and base building. Players fire increasingly elaborate combinations of balls through enemy formations, gather resources and rebuild New Ballbylon between runs, while recruited heroes introduce different mechanics that alter how projectiles behave. The base game includes more than 60 balls and over 70 buildings, giving the expansion a sizeable existing pool of systems to build upon.

Risen Ballbylon will launch November 12 for $6.99, with its content becoming accessible after completing the base game. With four additional battlefields, more than 40 enemies, eight heroes, 24 balls, 45 passives, 20 buildings and the new crystal resource, the expansion substantially increases the number of combinations available to returning players while extending BALL x PIT beyond its original descent into the abyss.
