Battlefield 6 Season 5 will begin on October 13, kicking off the game’s second year with two new Las Vegas-area maps available at launch and a third map planned later in the season. EA says the update will also add new weapons, expand REDSEC with Rapid Royale, revise combat and vehicle balance, and continue rolling out larger platform features such as the server browser. The new season follows Season 4: Naval Warfare, which ends the same day.
EA first outlined the Vegas direction in its “Siege of Vegas Incoming” community update, confirming that all three new Season 5 maps are set around Las Vegas. Two will arrive immediately and are designed to cover very different combat styles, ranging from close-quarters infantry engagements through dense interiors and elevated positions to larger combined-arms battles involving heavy vehicles and aircraft. A third map will join later in the season, while Blackwell Fields and New Sobek City are also scheduled to receive reworks.
Season 5 will introduce new weapons as well, although EA has not yet published the complete weapon-by-weapon breakdown. The company has separately confirmed wider gunplay changes intended to sharpen the roles of different weapon classes across engagement distances. In REDSEC, several weapon categories will require an additional bullet to eliminate armored enemies at certain ranges, while weapons including the KTS100 Mk8, SCW-10, SVDM, SG553R and KV9 are receiving additional tuning.

Vehicle combat is another major focus. EA is adjusting vehicle health regeneration, directional damage and weak points so positioning and flanking become more meaningful, while anti-air systems are also being rebalanced. Mobile and stationary anti-air cannons, Scout Helicopter rockets, guided missiles, vehicle ammunition roles and anti-vehicle equipment such as the M15 AV Mine and PTKM-1R are all part of the wider balancing pass.
The changes extend to player classes and starting equipment. Engineer players will deploy with the Repair Tool and M136 AT, Support will start with the Supply Pouch and Deployable Cover, and Recon will receive T-UGS alongside the Mobile Jammer. Battlefield Studios says the goal is to establish clearer class identities while improving the relationship between infantry, armored vehicles and the tools intended to counter them.
REDSEC is getting one of the season’s more significant mode changes with Rapid Royale. Both Solo and Trio variants will be available at the start of Season 5, offering shorter Battle Royale matches designed around faster engagements and more frequent combat. As part of that rollout, Gauntlet is being removed from the regular matchmaking rotation, with EA saying fewer simultaneous playlists should improve queue times and help keep matches consistently populated.
Battle Royale class progression is also being revised. Training Paths for Assault, Engineer, Support and Recon are changing to emphasize survivability, armor, revives, spotting and anti-vehicle roles, while armor plating will become 20% faster across every class. Additional gadgets including the Smoke Launcher, Supply Bag, Defibrillator, Breaching Dart and Anti-Drone Gun are joining the loot pool, and a new reconnect feature will allow disconnected players to return to an active REDSEC match.
Portal and broader multiplayer systems will continue evolving throughout the season rather than arriving all at once. EA has reiterated that a server browser is planned for later in Season 5, while Platoons and multiplayer leaderboards were also part of the company’s previously announced roadmap. That makes Season 5 more than a conventional content drop, with several long-requested community features arriving alongside maps, weapons and balance work.
The October update arrives while several other multiplayer shooters are also entering major seasonal refreshes, including Black Ops 7 and Warzone Season 06, which recently introduced its own Ranked, weapon and live-service changes. Battlefield is taking a different approach by tying its anniversary period to a wider second-year overhaul built around new maps and system-level revisions.
Season 5 therefore represents a substantial transition point for Battlefield 6 rather than simply another Battle Pass reset. Two new Vegas maps, REDSEC Rapid Royale, weapon and vehicle rebalancing, class changes and further platform improvements will all begin rolling out from October 13. EA says the third new map and additional features will follow over the course of the season as Battlefield 6 moves into its second year of post-launch support.
