Fortnite’s 99 Nights in the Forest collaboration is reportedly set to reach the Item Shop on October 9, bringing a full cosmetic set centered on The Deer. Reliable Fortnite leaker HYPEX says the release will include an Outfit, Back Bling, Pickaxe, Emote and Wrap, while the Outfit will feature a reactive nighttime appearance. Epic Games has confirmed that 99 Nights in the Forest content is coming during Fortnitemares 2026, but it has not publicly announced the October 9 shop date or the complete cosmetic lineup.
According to HYPEX, The Deer Outfit changes appearance at night, becoming darker with red visual elements as part of its reactive functionality. Fortnite’s reactive cosmetics typically alter their appearance when specific gameplay conditions are met, and Epic’s support documentation confirms that such changes can be tied to events ranging from eliminations and damage to other in-game triggers. In this case, the reported trigger is the game’s day-night cycle rather than player performance.
The rest of the reported set consists of one Back Bling, one Pickaxe, one Emote and one Wrap. HYPEX says the entire collaboration is expected to arrive together, while a full in-game reveal is anticipated before the October 9 release. Pricing has not yet been confirmed, so it remains unclear whether Epic will offer the cosmetics only through a bundle or also sell individual pieces separately.

Epic has already confirmed the broader crossover through its official Fortnitemares 2026 announcement. The company listed 99 Nights in the Forest among the franchises receiving Outfits and accessories throughout October, alongside A Nightmare on Elm Street, Black Clover, Hollow Knight, Hazbin Hotel, The Purge, Slender Man and several other collaborations. Epic did not attach individual dates to all of those releases, making the October 9 timing a new detail originating from the leak rather than the official announcement.
The crossover fits closely with this year’s Fortnitemares theme, which has expanded across Battle Royale, Horde Rush and Reload with horror-focused characters and mechanics. Epic has already rolled out major licensed content including Five Nights at Freddy’s, while Freddy, Chica, Bonnie and Foxy joined Fortnite as part of the opening wave. The 99 Nights in the Forest collaboration continues that emphasis on horror properties while drawing from a game that became particularly popular through Roblox.
The Deer has also appeared in Fortnite’s broader Fortnitemares content beyond the rumored shop cosmetics. Recent gameplay shows the creature appearing at night in the game world, where it watches players before disappearing when directly observed. That behavior mirrors the unsettling role The Deer plays in 99 Nights in the Forest and gives the collaboration a gameplay presence separate from the cosmetic bundle.
Epic is also using this Fortnitemares season for a wider range of gaming crossovers. Hollow Knight content has been tied to the same October event, with a leaked Knight Sidekick set including additional accessories appearing alongside the month’s horror-focused releases. The schedule has therefore mixed traditional horror franchises with games that fit Fortnite’s broader Halloween theme.
99 Nights in the Forest is a survival-horror experience built around surviving repeated nights in a hostile woodland environment while gathering resources and strengthening a camp. The Deer serves as one of its most recognizable threats, making it the obvious character for Epic to adapt as the collaboration’s main Outfit. Its reported reactive style also gives Fortnite a way to reflect the creature’s darker nighttime presentation rather than simply recreating a static version of the character.
For now, only the crossover itself is officially confirmed. The October 9 Item Shop date, reactive Deer details and five-piece cosmetic lineup come from HYPEX and should remain treated as leaked information until Epic publishes the corresponding shop announcement or the cosmetics appear in-game. With the reported full reveal expected shortly, official confirmation could arrive before the set goes live.
