Grand Theft Auto VI has reportedly generated approximately $630 million from 6.45 million digital preorders ahead of its November 19, 2026 release. The figures come from market intelligence firm Sensor Tower, which estimates that PlayStation 5 accounts for nearly three-quarters of all preorders, significantly ahead of Xbox Series X|S.
The latest figures, published on October 20 through Sensor Tower’s GTA VI sales tracker and detailed by Insider Gaming, suggest substantial demand for Rockstar Games’ upcoming open-world title. However, the numbers are third-party estimates rather than official sales figures confirmed by Rockstar or its parent company, Take-Two Interactive.
Sensor Tower estimates that approximately 4.8 million preorders have been placed on PlayStation 5, generating around $468 million in spending. Xbox Series X|S accounts for an estimated 1.66 million preorders and $162 million.

That gives PlayStation approximately 74% of estimated preorder volume, compared with 26% for Xbox. The figures reinforce the reported preorder advantage for PS5 over Xbox, while providing a clearer indication of the estimated spending behind that difference.
The $630 million figure represents estimated consumer spending on digital preorders, not audited revenue or profit received by Rockstar or Take-Two. Sensor Tower’s figures also exclude physical copies, meaning they should not be interpreted as a complete accounting of all GTA 6 purchases.
The latest estimates represent an increase from Sensor Tower’s October 13 figures, which placed digital preorders at approximately 6.08 million copies and $594 million in spending. That suggests an additional 370,000 estimated preorders and roughly $36 million in spending over the following week.
Sensor Tower’s calculations indicate that demand has continued growing as the release approaches. The company tracks estimated digital sales across PlayStation and Xbox, although its modeled results may differ from the actual transaction figures held by the platform operators and publisher.
GTA 6 is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The game arrives more than 13 years after Grand Theft Auto V, which originally launched in September 2013.
The reported preorder spending also provides context for the scale of major console releases. For comparison, Marvel's Wolverine was estimated to have sold 1.9 million copies during its first three days, generating approximately $130 million, according to Alinea Analytics. Both sets of figures are independent estimates rather than publisher-confirmed totals.
Despite the substantial numbers, GTA 6’s final launch performance remains unknown. Sensor Tower’s current estimates cover purchases made before release and cannot establish how many additional copies will sell during launch week.
Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive have not publicly confirmed the reported 6.45 million preorders or $630 million spending figure. Until official sales results become available, Sensor Tower’s figures remain an indication of estimated digital demand rather than a definitive measure of GTA 6’s commercial performance.
