Ubisoft has confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced will receive a major update on October 27, 2026, introducing New Game+, Nightmare Mode and additional treasure to discover. The announcement, shared through the official Assassin’s Creed social media account on October 26, establishes a specific release date and reveals additional content beyond the previously announced replay mode.
New Game+ is the update’s central addition, allowing players to begin another playthrough of Edward Kenway’s Caribbean adventure. Ubisoft initially confirmed on October 22 that the feature would arrive during the following week but did not provide an exact date or announce the accompanying difficulty and treasure additions.
The October 27 update also introduces Nightmare Mode, providing another difficulty option for players seeking a greater challenge. Ubisoft has not outlined the mode’s specific mechanics in its October 26 announcement, leaving details about enemy behavior, combat adjustments and other potential difficulty changes to be clarified.

Additional treasure will also be available to uncover throughout the game. However, the announcement does not identify the new rewards, their locations or whether any will be exclusive to New Game+ or Nightmare Mode.
New Game+ has been planned since shortly after Black Flag Resynced launched. In July, game director Richard Knight confirmed during a conversation with YouTube creator JorRaptor that the development team was working on the feature. Knight explained that the New Game+ implementation in Assassin’s Creed Shadows provided a useful foundation, although differences between the games presented additional design challenges.
At the time, Knight also expressed interest in introducing extra rewards for subsequent playthroughs, while acknowledging that their inclusion depended on development resources. The October 26 announcement confirms additional treasure but does not establish how those rewards will be distributed.
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced launched on July 9, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The remake revisits the 2013 adventure starring Edward Kenway, with updated visuals, revised gameplay systems and expanded content. New Game+ gives returning players another way to experience the campaign, while Nightmare Mode adds a difficulty option beyond those available at launch.
Ubisoft also announced a separate Assassin’s Creed franchise update for Thursday, October 29. Head of Content Jean Guesdon will discuss upcoming developments across the series, although the company has explicitly stated that the presentation will not include major reveals.
The October 27 Black Flag Resynced update is scheduled for the game’s existing platforms, with further details about its gameplay changes and rewards expected through the accompanying update information.
