Nintendo is bringing Pikmin 4 to Nintendo Switch 2 on November 12, 2026, with improved visuals, new gameplay features and an additional challenge mode. Officially titled Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy, the enhanced release will be available as a standalone game and through a paid upgrade for existing Nintendo Switch owners.
Nintendo originally announced the new edition during its September 9 Nintendo Direct presentation, confirming the release date alongside several features designed for the newer console. The upcoming version retains the original game’s exploration and Pikmin-based puzzle-solving while introducing additional ways to interact with its characters.
One of the main additions is voice command support for Oatchi, the player’s canine companion. Using the Nintendo Switch 2’s built-in microphone, players can issue commands to Oatchi and praise him without relying entirely on traditional button inputs.

The Switch 2 edition also features improved graphics, including support for enhanced resolutions of up to 4K when playing in TV mode. Nintendo has not detailed every technical improvement, but the higher-resolution presentation is intended to provide a more detailed view of the game’s miniature environments.
Another major addition is Dandori Academy, a new challenge mode focused on planning, efficiency and treasure collection. Players must complete objectives as quickly as possible across stages of varying difficulty.
Nintendo has confirmed that 72 Dandori Academy stages will become available over time, with three difficulty levels, collectible medals and online leaderboards. Special exams will take place on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, giving players opportunities to test their performance against others.
The enhanced edition also introduces GameShare support for Dandori Battles, allowing players to compete with friends through supported local or online connections, including friends who do not own the game. Online functionality is subject to Nintendo’s applicable account, connectivity and membership requirements.
Players who already own Pikmin 4 on the original Nintendo Switch will not need to purchase the entire game again. Nintendo is offering a separate upgrade pack for Switch 2, listed at $9.99 on its US store. The original game is required to use the upgrade.
Pikmin 4 first launched on Nintendo Switch in July 2023, introducing Oatchi alongside the familiar Pikmin mechanics of exploration, resource management and overcoming environmental obstacles.
The enhanced edition joins a growing selection of games receiving dedicated Switch 2 versions, including Minecraft's Switch 2 release with improved visuals and additional features.
