MiHoYo has announced that Petit Planet, its free-to-play cosmic life simulation game, will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027. The confirmation came during the game’s November 1, 2026 pre-launch special program, expanding its platform lineup beyond PC and mobile devices.
Petit Planet will first launch globally on December 4, 2026, for PC through the Epic Games Store and its standalone client, alongside iOS and Android. The Nintendo Switch 2 version will follow sometime in 2027, although miHoYo has not announced a specific release date for Nintendo’s console.
The Switch 2 announcement follows earlier indications that the game was heading to Nintendo hardware. Petit Planet received an ESRB rating for Switch 2 in June 2026, suggesting that a console release was being prepared before the developer formally confirmed its plans.

Petit Planet introduces players to a colorful universe where they become Planet Tenders, responsible for creating and maintaining their own celestial homes. Players begin by planting a Luca Seed, which gradually develops into a Luca Arbor and influences their planet’s landscape, seasons and ecosystem.
Daily activities include farming, fishing, gathering resources, decorating homes and building relationships with animal-like companions known as Neighbors. Characters such as Planet Coordinator Mobai and Starsea Racer Elsasani welcome players to their new surroundings, while additional Neighbors arrive with individual personalities and stories.
Beyond their home planets, players can travel across the Starsea to explore scattered islands, discover creatures and collect materials. The Galactic Bazaar provides a shared social environment featuring games, auctions and opportunities to interact with other players and showcase creations.
The November 1 presentation also detailed several launch rewards and community activities. According to miHoYo, more than 1,000 clothing and furniture items will be obtainable for free through regular gameplay. The Besties, Made to Match! pre-registration event will reward players who register alongside two friends with an exclusive clothing item.
Another promotional activity, Launch a Planet, began on November 1 and allows participants to design virtual planets through an official event website for a chance to win prizes. The developer also plans to introduce its first Seasonal Creation Event alongside the December launch, offering selected community creations cash prizes, in-game rewards and merchandise.
The addition of Petit Planet expands the Switch 2’s upcoming simulation game lineup, which also includes Slime Rancher 2 in January 2027.
For now, miHoYo has not disclosed Nintendo Switch 2-specific features, performance targets or whether the console version will support progression shared with PC and mobile platforms. Further details about the 2027 release remain unannounced.
