Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad game was launched in 2024 by Warner Bros; however, this game didn’t meet the expected sales targets, as a result, it was abandoned by Rocksteady at the start of 2025. The latest gossip in the gaming world is that Rocksteady is planning to revive Batman Beyond game.

Batman Beyond is based on DC comics, previously developed by Paul Dini, Bruce Timm, and Alan Burnett in 1999. The developer is aiming to revive single-character gameplay to regain the market share it previously lost. The rumor is associated with Lunatic Ignus, a reliable source for revealing PlayStation insights.

According to Ignus, the new game will not be based on the animated show’s style. Instead, it will serve as a foundation for an upcoming video game trilogy. This implies that the storyline of Batman Beyond could be expanded to create narrative arc for the trilogy.

Importance: This rumor suggests Rocksteady is shifting away from conventional stories related to the Batman character, offering a different time period and protagonist in Batman Beyond, making it very attractive to players and fans of the franchise.

The rumor has also suggested that the title might be a PlayStation exclusive, which might be available on the PS6 and PC only. If this turns out to be the case, it would be another disappointment for Xbox fans.

Batman Beyond is set in a futuristic timeline, where the story follows a case solver using new technology to defeat enemies. Bruce Wayne is suspected to play the role of mentor to Terry McGinnis’ Batman.

A surprising fact is that a similar game was in development by WB Games Montreal; however, the project was later discarded. It is not surprising that Rocksteady might be reusing elements from WB’s work to revive Batman Beyond.

Whatever the case may be, the rumor is not without question, as none of the collaborators of the game including PlayStation, WB Games and Rocksteady Studios have assured anything up until now.
