Resident Evil 7 is considered one of the greatest horror games of all time and significantly boosted the Resident Evil franchise. Recently, this AAA title was ported to iOS, but it seems that users on the platform have not been very enthusiastic about its presence.

According to an analysis by Mobilegamer.biz, which utilizes data from Appfigures, the game has been downloaded just over 83,000 times since its release in July. Players must pay £20/$20 to unlock the full game.

Appfigures estimates that Capcom has earned $28,140 from the game. After accounting for Apple’s 30% cut, this suggests that fewer than 2,000 players have purchased the full game.

Importance: The game is currently available on Apple’s most powerful mobile devices, which may contribute to its low sales. Additionally, the $20 price tag could be a concern for many mobile gamers, as such prices are uncommon in the mobile market.

Resident Evil Is One of The Best Horror Franchises Ever

Similar patterns have been observed with other major console ports to mobile. In June, titles like Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil Village, Death Stranding, and Assassin’s Creed Mirage reportedly had sluggish starts on Apple devices. Andrei Zubov, head of content at Appmagic, indicated to Mobilegamer.biz that the outlook for console games on mobile platforms isn’t promising.

    Zubov stated,

“Top-performing mobile premium games are often indie titles with simpler controls, unique art styles, and shorter play sessions, attributes common in successful free-to-play mobile games.”

He also noted that the audience for these console games likely already owns modern consoles.

Currently, Resident Evil 7 is priced at $20/£20 on mobile platforms. In comparison, it is available for £13.99 on PlayStation 4, which includes all DLC, and there is a free upgrade for PlayStation 5 owners.

The recent trend of high-end games coming to powerful Apple platforms is a result of a partnership between Apple and several game developers to bring top-tier titles to their capable devices. This collaboration is why games like Resident Evil 7 have become available on certain Apple devices.

As Zubov mentioned, the mobile gaming market is dominated by indie titles, so it will take some time for users to adjust to these high-end games. However, we hope to see more such games coming to the mobile market in the future.

We are enthusiastic about the future of mobile gaming and curious to see if we will eventually be able to play games with PC and console users without the need for third-party softwares like emulators.
