The Witcher franchise has been at the center of growing anticipation as CD Projekt RED shifts more attention back to its flagship series. With years having passed since the last mainline release—and Cyberpunk 2077’s turbulent journey now largely behind them—fans are eager for any insight into what comes next.

The studio’s latest earnings call offered just that, delivering fresh details that have already sparked major discussion across the community.

CD Projekt RED has officially addressed growing speculation around The Witcher’s future, confirming a Witcher 4 release delay by ruling out any chance of the game arriving in 2026.

While the studio avoided giving a specific launch target, it reassured fans that development remains on track internally and is progressing through full-scale production as planned.

Importance: The confirmed Witcher 4 release delay shows CDPR prioritizing quality and avoiding past mistakes, setting clearer expectations for fans while reinforcing the industry shift toward longer, more sustainable development cycles.

CDPR confirms a six-year plan for the new Witcher trilogy, shaping the timeline for Witcher 4, 5, and 6

    CEO Clarifies Project Status

During its Q3 earnings call, CDPR’s joint CEO Michal Nowakowski clarified that the team is not ready to commit to a release date and emphasized that a Witcher 4 release delay shouldn’t be seen as a sign of trouble.

He noted that there are no unusual technical design issues affecting the project—it’s simply moving forward at a careful, steady pace to avoid past mistakes like those made with Cyberpunk 2077.

Studio Confidence In The Witcher Series

Surprisingly, CDPR also reaffirmed its ambitious strategy to release the entire new Witcher trilogy within a six-year window, meaning the gaps between future entries—Witcher 5 and Witcher 6—will be shorter than usual.

Inside CD Projekt RED’s studio, development continues steadily despite the Witcher 4 release delay

This long-term roadmap shows the studio’s renewed confidence in the franchise while keeping expectations realistic for fans awaiting the next era of The Witcher.
